Kenya Ports Authority Job Vacancies

We are one of the leading facilitators of sea-borne trade in the region. Following
tremendous growth in throughput within a highly dynamic and time-sensitive
environment, opportunities have arisen for the following positions in the Legal Services
Division.

Assistant Corporation Secretary (Contracts & Conveyancing).

Reporting to the Corporation Secretary, the job holder is responsible for drawing commercial contracts and general conveyancing. He/She will also provide leadership to the contracts and conveyancing department.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Deals with legal matters relating to contracts and conveyancing.
  • Manages staff working under him and exercises budgetary control.
  • Safeguards the Authority's property interests, advises Management on Land Law and handles issues relating to land use, leases and/or disputes.
  • Serves as the Authority's liaison officer with courts, third parties and legal representatives on legal matters
Main Specification.
  • Degree in Law (LLB)
  • Diploma in Legal Education
  • Advocate of the High Court with a current practicing licence.
Experience.
  • At least six (6) to seven (7) years' relevant experience in a leading and commercial organisation.
Principal Legal Officer (Contracts & Conveyancing).

Reporting to the Assistant Corporation Secretary (Contracts & Conveyancing), the job holder is responsible for handling conveyancing matters concerning the Authority and providing support to the Assistant Corporation Secretary with regards to Contracts and Conveyance.

Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Preparation and execution of legal documents.
  • Maintaining specialized forms and documents.
  • Processing consents for sub-leases, transfers and charges.
  • Drafting documents, such as contracts, way leaves, and licences, for the Assistant Corporation Secretary.
  • Reviewing documentation with regards to licensing, insurance cover, valid municipal licences, trade licences and checks if application is as per KPA regulations.
  • General responsibilities of a manager including task allocation and supervision of the conveyancing clerks and other subordinates.
Main Specification.
  • Degree in Law (LLB)
  • Diploma in Legal Education
  • Advocate of the High Court with a current practicing licence.
Experience.
  • At least three (3) to four (4) years' relevant experience in a leading and commercial organisation.
