The Kenya Community Development Foundation (KCDF) is a Kenyan grantmaking public foundation which exists to strengthen communities access to resources for development and also supports them build assets for sustainable change.
It raises funds from a diverse range of Kenyan and international sources, and makes innovative grants to CBOs and NGOs that are working to help communities address their poverty challenges, as they take charge of their own development agenda.
KCDF is looking to recruit exceptional, committed and qualified individuals for the following three senior positions that will contribute to the overall achievement of the organization's mission
PROGRAMME DIRECTOR (PD 001/08)
Reporting to the Chief executive Officer, the successful candidate will deputize for the Chief Executive Officer, as well as take charge of the following:
- Be the lead manager for programme development, implementation and reporting, and supporting communities with asset building;
- Developing and building professional relationships with a diverse range of institutional and other donors for programme funding;
- Establish and maintain an efficient programme monitoring and evaluation system;
- Ensure effective grant management and appropriate identification of grantees or new partners at community level for the development of community endowments.
- Successful applicants must hold a minimum of a masters degree in a related field, and have held similar responsibilities at a senior management level, in a reputable development agency for not less than five years.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the successful candidate will be responsible for delivering agreed targets through a well coordinated resource mobilization strategy for the organization, as well as taking a leadership role in maintaining external relations.
In addition, the holder of this position will:
- Engage, facilitate and support the Board and Trustees in resource mobilization activities;
- Guide the implementing of an effective outreach strategy aimed at reaching out to individuals and companies in activities that increase resources and support for poor communities;
- Develop strategies for growing and linking up with organized and existing Kenyan diaspora groups especially those in the USA and elsewhere;
- Support the communication team in designing.and implementing effective and diverse profile raising activities for KCDF mission work.
- Successful applicants must have had extensive experience as part of the senior management team of a reputable development agency, in developing diverse resource mobilization strategies, especially through work with corporates. .
Reporting to the Resource Mobilization Manager (and with a close working relationship with the CEO) the holder of this post will develop, execute, oversee and coordinate all media and communications activities of the Foundation.
In addition, s/he will
- Take charge of implementing the external communication functions of the Foundation;
- Develop appropriate communication materials targeting different audiences;
- Manage and strengthen the profiling of KCDF, including pursuing effective branding of all foundation activities.
- Successful applicants must be an independent, self starter with initiative, have at least three years experience working in communications and media function and a demonstrable track record of delivering results in awareness-raising, consistent and effective media coverage and development and delivery of original communications and media concepts and products.
- Competent in IT skills with expertise in website management.
