Program description: This program is a collaboration between Kenya Medical Research Institute and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention whose remit is to conduct research in malaria, HIV and other diseases. There is currently a vacancy in the Malaria Branch, Mefloquine + CTX Study
POSITION: Data Clerk - 1 Position (MR 4 Job Group G)
Location: Kisumu-KEMRI/CDC Kisian Field Station
Essential REQUIREMENT
- Must have at least O-level Certificate and additional training in computer operations/applications.
- Applicants with experience in file management and electronic transmission of data using scannable forms are preferred. Training in typing is an advantage.
- Proficiency in written and verbal English. Fluency in Kiswahili and Dholuo an asset.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Data Clerk will report to the Data Manager and will work with the Study Coordinator, field staff, and laboratory staff to develop a system for scanning, tracking and quality control of study forms. The Data Clerk may also be required to support the Study Principle Investigator when required.
SPECIFIC TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Data Clerk’s responsibilities shall include but are not limited to the following:
- Assist in printing forms that are required for data collection.
- Organize and dispatch data collection forms to the field.
- Track the movement of forms between the Data Center and the field.
- Transmit completed forms to the Data Coordinating Center via scanning.
- Arrange for and ensure efficient mailing of case report forms.
- File electronic and hard copies of data collection forms.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
REQUIREMENTS:
Competency in working with Computers. Able to work in a professional and ethical manner with competence, accountability and integrity. Capable of following instructions and of working independently and as part of a team. Must be willing to live in Kisumu with regular travel to Siaya and Bondo. Those already working part time or with experience of scanning will have an added advantage.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: A six (6) 1 year renewable Contract as per KEMRI scheme of service. Probation period for the first 3 months.
