Job Title: WASH Drilling Supervisor (Driller)
Job Location: Twic County

Reporting to Field Manager WASH

Overall Description

General Description of the Role

The WASH Driller has overall responsibility of:-

• ensuring that all steps in the construction of a borehole are undertaken correctly and timely;
• ensuring that all equipment and accessories are in good working order and properly serviced.;
  
• capacity building of local staff, in the various skills involved in the construction of a borehole.

Summary of Key Duties (Technical Specifics)

• Generally carry out all the necessary duties of a driller as follows:

1. Drill a bore-hole to the recommended specifications using appropriate techniques based formations on site, ensuring verticality.

• Ensure drilled bore holes are constructed according to agreed upon designs (casing string installations, gravel packing, bore hole development, bore hole test pumping, water quality testing, sanitary seal, aprons, surrounds and drainage systems)
• Ensure all bore hole data/report and drilling lithology is adequately filled in, samples collected, labelled and stored properly.
• Ensure proper installation of hand pump installation and testing to ensure optimal performance
• Responsibility for ensuring all necessary appliances, consumables and composite materials are available and delivered to site before commencement of works.
• Responsibility for all drilling equipment (compressor and rig) plus accessories and for ensuring that they are in good working order at all times; Responsibility for repairs, services, and replacement of defective parts of the rig and compressor using hand tools.
• Coordination & Liaison at Field Level, Reporting and human resources management as will be described in the detailed Job Description

Requirements (Person Specification)

• Degree in Plant Mechanics, Geology, and Drilling Technology OR Diploma in related Field with at least 5 years experience in drilling (hands-on).
• Proven Hands On experience amounting to over 15yrs but with basic education will be considered.
  
• Proven experience in geo-physical investigations and interpretations
• Knowledge/experience of the local geological formation of the working area.

Job Title: Assistant WASH Manager

Job Location: Twic County, with extensive travel at Field Sites within GOAL Targeting area in Twic

Reporting to Field Manager WASH

Overall Description

General Description of the Role

The Assistant WASH Manager, will be responsible for:-

• ensuring that all the Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting needs of the program are undertaken in a timely and in accordance with the donor requirements;
• work closely with the senior WASH team at field level;
• field visits and also ensuring that grant visibility requirements are in place and adhered to during program implementation and activity completion under the technical guidance of the WASH Manager and the WASH Coordinator.
• The Assistant WASH Manager will also contribute towards development of success stories as required by the grant in collaboration with the WASH Manager, Project Support officer and the WASH Coordinator

Summary of Key Duties - Programmatic

• Through field visits validate findings of the baseline assessments studies carried out as well as conducting assessments to determine the community’s needs and priorities vis-à-vis hygiene and water supply and sanitation; (Follow assessment guidelines as stipulated)
• Based on Donor guidelines and technical support from WASH Manager/WASH Co contribute towards development of WASH activity monitoring and evaluation framework for both out put and out come related indicators
• Contribute towards assessments and studies that would gauge the WASH Sector achievements in terms of out come related indicators set.
  

1. Conduct qualitative assessments incorporating participatory approaches through engaging the various levels of beneficiaries including the local authority under the guidance of the WASH Manager/WASH Co and
   
2. Assist the WASH Manager in terms of contributing to new proposals based on the assessments conducted which should incorporate GOAL’s programming approaches

• Assist the WASH Manager in conducting Water Quality Analysis, Surveillance and maintenance of a data base for the same
• Assist in Preparing WASH related training modules and conducting trainings to WUCs, Supertechnicians, and other stakeholders.
• Coordination & Liaison, reporting, human resource management and capacity building as shall be detailed in the Job Description

Requirements:

• Degree in Monitoring & Evaluation, Community Development, Environmental Health Sciences (or similar) OR Diploma in related Field with at least 2 years experience
• Proven experience in working with similar position in WASH projects;
• Knowledge and experience in involving in planning, implementation, and monitoring of WASH activities.
