Finance Manager Uganda Career Opportunity: PKF Job Advert

Our client, a subsidiary of a UK based multinational company with established operations in Uganda wishes to recruit an experienced individual for the position of Finance Manager.

The finance Manager will be responsible for all financial and fiscal management aspects of the company operations.

Provide leadership and coordination in the administrative, business planning and development, tax planning, accounting and budgeting efforts of the company.

Key member of a team to deliver budgets/financial models.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Create, evaluate and develop the financial programs and supporting information systems of the company to include budgeting, tax planning, product costing, invoicing and the related management information systems.
  • Ensure compliance with local and national govt regulatory and reportorial requirements.
  • Oversee the approval and processing of revenue, expenditure, and position control documents, i.e. department budgets, overall company budgets.
  • Coordinate the preparation of financial statements, financial reports, special analyses, and information reports.
  • Leads the year end external audit process.
  • Develop and implement finance, accounting, billing, and auditing procedures.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate internal control safeguards.
  • Interact with other managers to provide consultative support to planning initiatives through financial and management information analyses, reports, and recommendations.
  • Ensure accounting records systems are maintained in accordance with IFRs.
  • Develop and direct the implementation of strategic business and/or operational plans, projects, programs, and systems.
  • Assist in obtaining the necessary licenses and insurance required to start or sustain the business.
  • Analyze cash flow, cost controls, and expenses to guide business leaders. Analyze financial statements to pinpoint potential weak areas and partner with business leaders to implement improvements.
  • Establish and implement short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
  • Serve on planning and policy-making committees.
  • Prepare board papers
  • Oversee risks management and corporate governance programs.
  • Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate Finance dept staff.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
  • Experience in strategic planning and execution. Knowledge of contracting, negotiating, and change management. Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and IFRS. Knowledge of and hands- on experience of automated financial and accounting reporting systems.
  • Knowledge of tax related rules and legislations.
  • Proven analytical skills- all types of financial data and financial reports, statements, and financial modeling and business plans.
  • Effective people management skills.
  • Very good professional with strong written and verbal communication.
  • People management skills and team leader- able to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects.
  • Skillful problem solver who makes things happen.
  • CPA, Masters Degree in Finance or Business Administration preferred.
  • Minimum of ten years of experience in senior-level finance or accounting position.
