Job Opportunities at World Vision Kenya

World Vision Kenya is a leading non-governmental Christian humanitarian, relief, development and advocacy organization with projects in most parts of Kenya.

We wish to urgently recruit highly competent, proactive and self-driven people to fill the following positions within our organization.

Associate Branch Director
To be based in Nairobi

Purpose of the positions:
  • To provide the operational leadership and management direction needed to successfully promote child focused, community development within the branch's area of influence.
Key Responsibilities:

Support Branch Director in ensuring branch operations to effectively implement a three track ministry approach (Transformational Development, Humanitarian and Emergency Affairs and Advocacy); Establish, coordinate and/or consolidate the necessary systems, procedures and support services - together with the other relevant WV entities - to effectively achieve or surpass performance targets in relation to the branch's operational priorities (including but not limited to 1) staffing - recruiting, on boarding staff, training, supervising, performance monitoring. 2) procurement and administration, and 3) project management for all funding streams - program design, start up, implementation, monitoring and phase out);

Enable the branch team's program unit - in coordination with their IQM counterparts - to provide the sub Branches and Integrated Program Area with the appropriate technical orientation and timely administrative support needed to successfully achieve or surpass proposed child and community well being objectives; Establish and consolidate a working culture - based upon results based management principals - that consistently achieves andfor surpasses established targets and standards;

Provide and model effective, principled leadership to all staff within the branch and directly manage the programmatic unit of the respective branch team;

Impart appropriate mentoring, coaching and supervision in order to equip, motivate and empower a new generation of program leaders within VWK.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field from a recognized University. An advanced degree is preferred;
  • A minimum of 7 years experience with regards to the designing, planning, implementation, supervising and reporting on integrated development, relief and/or advocacy projects;
  • At least 5 years experience as a manager;
  • A results orientated leader who can handle a heavy work load as well as manage and satisfy multiple and at times conflicting organizational, donor and other stakeholder demands and;
  • Solid public relations skills and be a strong team player;
  • Complete compatibility with WV's mission, ethos, policies and core values.
Knowledge Management Officer
To be based in Nairobi

Purpose of the positions:

To provide leadership in the area of knowledge management as a technique for the management of the intellectual assets of the organization by ensuring that the organization's know-how, information and experience is shared inside and (as appropriate) outside the organization with clients, partners, and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Promotes adoption and use of knowledge management in the Unit through the development and support of communities of practice, including consulting and training/capacity building; Ensures effectiveness of KM programs and activities by analyzing KM activities, monitoring their use, and measuring their impact; Develop and test KM products and services for effectiveness, quality and responsiveness;
  • Serve as key contact for data requests by responding to queries and by assisting clients in accessing KM tools and resources at the branch level;
  • Utilizes knowledge bases, networks, communities of practice and other sources to synthesize responses to queries;
  • Conducts outreach programs and oversees training for staff and clients in use of KM products at the branch level;
  • Java scripting and Web-design to design and provide platforms for information sharing;
  • Supporting Community ICT4D initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders identify funding gaps and participate in resource mobilization for the same.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Bachelors Degree in information Technology, Computer science or Information science;
  • Experience in document/content management with ability to organize, classify and catalogue information;
  • Experience in web design, web scripting content management and internet research;
  • Proficiency in ICT and database skills including MS Office suite, graphics editors and Lotus Notes; Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Familiarity with developing and delivering knowledge sharing programs; Experience in web design, web scripting and Programming;
  • A strong aptitude for organisational change, participatory and servant leadership, innovation, learning and team building;
  • Strong commitment to WV Values, Mission and Vision.
IT Officers - (2)
To be based in Kitale and Kitui

Purpose of the positions:

To provide timely and effective customer service delivery to support WVK mission, goals and objectives in serving communities throughout Kenya through the application of ICT to provide efficient communication, information and data analysis.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide innovative and strategic ICT leadership, effective and timely implementation for all Sub Branch ICT related initiatives in line with WVK ICT Strategy;
  • Impart appropriate mentoring, coaching and capacity building in order to equip, motivate and empower Systems operators to support sponsorship applications within the sub-branch;
  • Coordinate implementation of World Vision's business applications;
  • Maintenance and support of computer equipment and software;
  • Provide needed training to Sub-branch and IPA staff to ensure efficient use of iCT tools to meet or exceeds accepted norms and standards;
  • Provide Sub-branch and IPA offices connectivity.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Diploma in Computer Science or Bachelor of Computer Science or Information Technology;
  • MCSE, CISCO CCNA Certification will be an added advantage;
  • At least 3 Years post qualification experience;
  • Problem solving skills;
  • Strong commitment to WV Values, Mission and Vision.
IT Service Desk Administrator
To be based in Nairobi

Purpose of the positions:

To ensure that customers have a stable Information Technology (IT) infrastructure that meets their current and future IT requirements in a timely and professional manner by analyzing customers' IT needs and assigning reported incidents to IT Officers to ensure timely resolve and escalation as needed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Properly represent WVK by providing excellent customer service in a courteous and friendly manner, providing IT recommendations and solutions over the phone or via remote connectivity methods and cataloguing all calls into the Customer Support & Service desk Management System;
  • Ensure service Level agreements are designed and implemented;
  • Perform analysis of customer requests based on their environment, location and the business processes they perform and define the appropriate business solutions;
  • Manage customer service satisfaction by performing consistent and periodic reviews of work orders and ensure proper escalation processes are being performed, identify the necessary resources to resolve and provide recommendations for mitigation of similar situations;
  • Manage the inventory of Computer Asset equipment to ensure the timely entry in the inventory database, monitor movement, withdrawal, reporting and reconciliation with Accounting Department records;
  • Responsible for receiving, setting up, testing and installing new computer systems, hardware and software, and assist users in migrating their data and customized configurations to new systems; BIOS, ensuring current version of anti-virus application is being used by client computers, etc.);
  • Work with Internet Access Service Providers to ensure the SLAs are adhered to and outages are reported and escalated in a timely manner with rebate given for downtimes experienced;
  • Test various productivity tools such as Mobile Phones, PDAs, Blackberrys, WeBex, Skype, WebCams, portable computer accessories, etc for recommendation to users to meet disparate user needs.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent from a recognized institution;
  • ITIL Certification plus A+, N+ and MCP certification;
  • Microsoft or IT Help Desk / Service Desk certifications will be an added advantage;
  • 5 years experience;
  • Strong commitment to WV Values, Mission and Vision.
