Objectives
The core objectives are to assist the Senior Statisticians of the Bank’s Department of Statistics (ESTA) to collect, organize and update the database of economic and social data; set up statistical records for the Department’s publications and the Annual Report, the Africa Economic Outlook (AEO), assist in the development of statistical and forecast models related to topical economic and social issues.

Objectives
The core objectives are to assist the Senior Statisticians of the Bank’s Department of Statistics (ESTA) to collect, organize and update the database of economic and social data; set up statistical records for the Department’s publications and the Annual Report, the Africa Economic Outlook (AEO), assist in the development of statistical and forecast models related to topical economic and social issues.
Duties and responsibilities
The Statistical Clerk (ESTA.1) shall be responsible for the following duties :
- Collect and process data from national and international sources on national accounts, consumer price indices, prices of commodities, exchange rates, stock indices;
- Update the main data base on RMCs and monitoring dissemination on the dynamic platform, and ensure that data are posted online (Data Platform) for users of the Bank and external applicants
- Contribute to the preparation of ESTA’s statistical publications, as well as thematic reports on national accounts, money statistics, and stock market volatility.
- Monitor and manage macroeconomic data and make short-term projections of macroeconomic indicators within the framework of the African Economic Outlook.
- Prepare statistical records for monitoring and evaluating the impact of the financial and economic crisis in RMCs;
- Perform other ad hoc tasks for the department.

- At least a minimum of Bachelor Degree in Statistics or equivalent in quantitative economics, or related field with a good knowledge of quantitative and econometric methods;
- Preferably a minimum of 3 years relevant experience in a national or international research or development institute;
- Demonstrated ability in statistical, econometric methods, SAS environment, EViews, R, Matlab, SPSS, etc.) including forecasting techniques, and utilization of statistics management computer programmes;
- Competence in the use of software such as Excel, Bloomberg, Reuters and Office applications used by applications (Word, Access and PowerPoint), SAP knowledge desirable;
- Ability to communicate in English and /or French, with a good knowledge of the other language.
