Data Specialist KEMRI/CDC Program Job in Kenya

Program description:

This program is collaboration between Kenya Medical Research Institute and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention whose remit is to conduct research in malaria, HIV and other diseases.

To effectively carry out its mandate, the Program is seeking to fill the following position in TB Branch in the Tb Vaccine study.

Position: Data Specialist (1 Position)
MR 7(Job Group K)

Location: Kisian /Siaya District (Karemo Division)

Essential Requirements
  • Diploma in IT, Computer Science, Data Management or its equivalent
  • Training in computer operations/applications.
  • Knowledge of Structured Query Language(SQL)
Desirable Qualities
  • Applicants with experience in file management and electronic transmission of data using scannable forms are preferred. Typing skills are essential
  • Ability to work with less supervision and accomplish tasks.
  • Good judgment in solving problems, awareness of own limitations, and strong internal motivation is essential
  • Ability to organize accurate and efficient workflow.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required and ability to follow instructions.
  • Experience in working with PDAs desired
Position Description:

The Data Specialist will report to the Data Analyst and will be responsible for transmitting data remotely using eCRFs/ CRFs.

The Data Specialist has to reside in Siaya.

Specific Tasks and Responsibilities

The Data Specialist responsibilities shall include and not limited to the following:
  • Enter data into CRFs/ eCRFs using a paper and electronic data entry system.
  • Track the movement of forms between the Data Center and the field.
  • Troubleshoot and solve common electronic data capture systems problems
  • Print forms that are required for data collection.
  • Transmit completed forms to the Data Coordinating Center.
  • File electronic and hard copies of data collection forms.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • Assist in routine data cleaning and data discrepancy management
Terms of Employment:
  • Six (6) one year renewable contract as per KEMRI scheme of service and a Probation period for the first 3 months.
Remuneration:

Compensation is negotiable within a relevant grade, based on education levels, relevant experience and demonstrated competency.

The salary scheme is based on the KEMRI scales plus supplemental amounts.
