Broad Description of the Role:
Drivers are responsible for the transport of all ARC staff and materials as requested by the supervisor. Drivers are to be punctual and timely with their driving while ensuring the safety of ARC staff, materials, and vehicles.
Key Duties/Responsibilities:
- Drives assigned vehicle in a safe manner
- Maintains assigned vehicle in good working condition. This involves keeping the assigned vehicle full of fuel, oil, water and other lubricants, gives receipts of the expenses to the relevant supervisor.
- Document all relevant activities in a vehicle service log immediately.
- Keeps assigned vehicle clean
- Assists Program staff as necessary with program activities
- Orders spare parts and supplies for all field based vehicles, as needed through the supervisor
- Responsible for strictly following security protocols and requirements
- Performs any other duties assigned by the supervisor
Requirements:
- O Level Certificate or equivalent with 3 - 5 years work experience
- 2 years work experience as a driver
- Holds a valid Sudanese Driving Permit
- Has some mechanical abilities and can demonstrate basic vehicle maintenance skills
- Clean driving record
- Proven trustworthiness and willingness to work as a team member, take direction, and share information with fellow ARC staff members
- Willingness to live under difficult physical and security conditions and the necessary restrictions that this entails, including the OLS/SPLM Ground Rules.
- Willingness to work long hours and stay in other ARC locations for long periods of time.
- Fluency in English required (spoken and written), conversational Arabic is an advantage.
