Health NGOs Network (HENNET) Jobs in Kenya: Monitoring & Evaluation Officer and

The Health NGOs Network (HENNET) was formed in 2005 to bring together CSOs whose core mandate is health in Kenya.

A functional HENNET secretariat was set up in 2006 and currently, is hosted by AMREF Kenya Country Office in Nairobi.

The Network's mission is "To stimulate linkages and strategic partnerships among health NGOs, government, Development Partners and the private sector in order to enhance their responses towards health needs of Kenyans ".

HENNET objectives include support to its members to:
  • meaningfully engage in the Kenya health sector at coordination, implementation and monitoring levels,
  • actively participate in development and implementation of national health strategies and policies,
  • facilitating the sharing of knowledge, skills, research findings, information, best practices and lessons learnt among HENNET members and
  • support capacity development of this members in relevant areas of common interest.
HENNET is a key stakeholder in the Kenyan Health Sector.

Hennet seeks to recruit the following positions:

Monitoring and Evaluation Officer
Ref.No.KCO/HR/HEN/014/2010

The successful candidate will be based at HENNET Secretariat's office in Nairobi and report to the Chief Executive Officer

Purpose of the job:

Develop and implement effective monitoring and evaluation plan for the Secretariat and establish measurable indicators for interventions.

The M&E officer will ensure monitoring tools are developed and updated regularly and compile quarterly reports on performance.

The incumbent will conduct training and support all staff on M&E and identify priority areas of concern from the monitoring data and inform the Secretariat for action.

Regular documentation of processes, challenges and lessons learned will be vital function of this position.

Specific areas of responsibility will include:
  • Facilitating HENNET secretariat to establish M& E systems and monitoring activities
  • Taking lead in data capture and reporting using monitoring tools to track programme indicators
  • Providing technical input into the review of reports and participating in field assessments
  • Supporting in capacity building of HENNET member CSOs
  • Taking lead in programme surveys and Organizing and facilitating Quarterly, Semi-Annual and Annual program Review meetings with programme staff and partners and giving feedback on M&E.
  • Strengthening collaboration and networking between HENNET members, the government and development partners in health
  • Working with the Advocacy Officer to document and disseminate lessons learnt and best practices through appropriate media, and to relevant parties
  • Ensuring programme integration and growth by participating in meetings and conferences
  • Provide support with the preparation of quality presentations
The ideal candidate should have a Degree in Social Science or a post graduate degree in public health or any other relevant Social Science discipline.

Three years relevant experience working in M&E in a health NGO.

Excellent computer skills including SPSS and Epi info.

Excellent communication skills both written and oral and be a team player.

Assistant Accountant

The successful candidate will reporting to the HENNET Chief Executive Officer, and will be based in Nairobi.

Purpose of the Job: Providing general accounting support

Specific areas of responsibility will include:
  • Assisting in treasury management and cash flow planning Supporting the Secretariat in budget implementation and monitoring
  • Accurate coding payment vouchers and files for data processing and/or payment
  • Reconciling all control and balance sheet accounts under own management and clear all reconciling items periodically
  • Updating data in the Sun Accounting System
  • Reconciling suppliers' statements against ledger statements monthly and liaising with the respective suppliers in a bid to clear any reconciling items
  • Maintenance of fixed assets register
  • Monthly preparation of internal recharges/recoveries
The ideal candidates should have a minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Commerce (Accounting Option) with at least CPAII and three years work experience in an NGO.

In addition the ideal candidate must have sound IT knowledge: - Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Databases and SUN accounting system.

The candidate should have high level of honesty, integrity, confidentiality and ability to work under minimal supervision.

Excellent communication skills both written and oral and be a team player.
