Data Clerk KEMRI/CDC Program Vacancy Announcement

Program description:

This program is collaboration between Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

It involves conducting research and program support for activities related to malaria, HIV and other diseases. Due to its continued growth, the Malaria Branch has the following vacancy in the Mal-055 Study (Malaria Vaccine study).

Position: Data Clerk (1 Position)
MR 4 (Job Group G)

Location: Siaya District Hospital.

Essential Requirement
  • KCSE minimum Grade C and certificate in Computer application or an equivalent.
  • Previous Data entry experience preferably using Remote Data Entry (RDE) System.
  • Good Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Desirable Qualities
  • Attention to details and good work ethics
  • Good judgment in problem solving, awareness of own limitations, and strong internal motivation essential
  • Be able to prioritize tasks and meet set deadlines.
  • Be able to work well in a team.
Duties and Responsibilities:

The Data entry Clerk will report to Data Quality Assurance Officer and perform the following tasks:
  • Data entry using the Remote Data Entry (RDE) system
  • Receives, reviews, and enters data into computer system or tracking database according to established procedures.
  • Prepares and sorts source documents, and identifies and interprets data to be entered
  • Filing source documents and data entry files
  • Keeps track of received data and source documents.
  • Ensures that confidentiality of data collected and stored are maintained
  • Compares data entered with source documents
  • Confirms accuracy of data such as distance information, days, dates, times and locations
  • Re-enters data in verification format on screen to detect errors.
  • Attends required data entry meetings and trainings and provides input to enhance the system
  • Compile, sort, and verify accuracy of data to be entered in the RDE system.
  • Keep record of work completed.
Terms of Employment:

The Contract is renewable at the option of the Program with agreement of the employee for six (6) one year periods after the initial period.

Probation period for the first 3 months.

Remuneration:

Compensation is negotiable within a relevant grade, based on educational levels, relevant experience and demonstrated competency.

The salary scheme is based on the KEMRI scales plus supplemental amounts.
