Brief Description

Develops, defines and ensures implementation of propulsion engineering standards in the assigned aircraft type (s) with a view of optimising airline and contracted customer aircraft product cost whilst maintaining operation and safety standards

Detailed Description
  • defining technical standards for optimised aircraft product cost of ownership and safety
  • provide technical consultancy services for speedy problem solving
  • evaluate and recommend means of complying with the requirements of manufacturers and aviation authorities for optimised cost whilst maintaining saftey standards
  • develop local modifications and repair schemes to ensure efficient, punctual and reliable aircraft operation
  • represent the airlines position on technical issues to respective original equipment manufacturers (oem) with a view to improve reliability and cost effectiveness
  • enter, process and analyse engine condition monitoring data
  • define engine, nacelle and apu shop visit workscopes.
  • create technical/economical substantiation for warranty claims.
  • liaise with flight operations and safety departments on technical issues.
  • Assist with technical and operational know-how during aircraft test flights, aircraft phase-in and aircraft phase outs.
Job Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, Experience
  • graduate engineer from a recognised university (mechanical, aeronautical or equivalent)
  • successfully completed a graduate engineering training programme
  • full type course on one aircraft in the airline fleet
  • knowledge of a data base software
  • oem development courses
  • knowledge on database including computer aided design
  • Knowledge of KCAA requirements and Kenya Airways procedures
