icipe's Molecular Biology and Biotechnology Department requires the services of a competent Administrative Assistant.

- Ensure efficient running of the office,
- Assist in keeping a record of all proposals, concept papers and funded projects both in soft and hard copies for use by the Management as and when required;
- Assist in preparing project reports, e-mail and Internet communications,
- Coordinate local and international travel arrangements, meetings and
- Other administrative functions as may be assigned by the Head of Division.
Requirements
- Minimum KCSE certificate and secretarial certificates or diploma from a recognized institution.
- A minimum of 5 years relevant work experience, preferably in national or international organization.
- Proven relevant work experience is considered an added advantage.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Excellent typing skills, both speedy and accurate with a minimum of 50 w.p.m. and a minimum of 80 w.p.m. in shorthand
- Be widely informed, possess excellent writing skills, high literacy level in computer application programmes especially word processing and Spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel).
- Ability to skillfully search the Internet for a variety of sites and sufficiently summarize the information therein.
- Specific competence in developing user-friendly office databases and developing File maker or Access will be added advantages.

- Assist in keeping a record of all proposals, concept papers and funded projects both in soft and hard copies for use by the Management as and when required,
- Assist in keeping an up-to-date record of all funded projects in a suitable database to facilitate easy reporting and information retrieval and as required,
- Participate in the development of a system for timely provision of information to collaborators, Project Accountants and other relevant parties, in compliance with project contracts to enable them comply with financing agreements. Such information to include dates and formats of reporting and reviews,
- Assist in keeping an up-to-date database and implementation of project guidelines,
- Assist in the development of a comprehensive database of collaborators and partners, including a record of all agreements between MBBD and its collaborators and partners,
- Ensure availability of documentation of follow-up of project proposals submitted to donors.
Conditions
- The position will be based here at Duduville and the successful candidate will be offered initially a 3 to 6 months contract.
