Funding Opportunity Announcement

TUNAWEZA is 5-year program implemented and managed by Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) as part of U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention PEPFAR programs in Kenya.

The purpose of the initiative is to expand access to HIV/AIDS interventions through activities aimed at increasing the organizational, technical and financial capacity of community based organizations (CBOs), Faith-based organizations (FBOs) and local NGOs to provide quality and comprehensive prevention, care and treatment services.

About the Program

TUNAWEZA supports HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment activities of local organizations by providing organizational and systems strengthening through training and mentorship, expansion of technical capacity for evidenced-based HIV/AIDS programming and performance based contracting to deliver multiple HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment services to target populations.

Funding Proposals

EGPAF is seeking proposals from indigenous organizations to implement activities in the following technical/program category areas.

Technical Areas: PMTCT
Programmatic Categorization: Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission of HIV

Technical Areas: Sexual Prevention
Programmatic Categorization:
  • Abstinence and/or being faithful
  • Condoms and other prevention
Technical Areas: VCT
Programmatic Categorization: Voluntary Counselling and Testing services

Technical Areas: Adult Care and Treatment
Programmatic Categorization:
  • Adult Care and Support
  • Adult Treatment
Technical Areas: Pediatric Care and Treatment
Programmatic Categorization:
  • Pediatric Care and Support
  • Pediatric Treatment
Technical Areas: TB/HIV
Programmatic Categorization: Prevention and treatment of Tuberculosis/HIV/AIDS

Technical Areas: Health systems strengthening
Programmatic Categorization: Support development and implementation of national policies for more effective HIV/AIDS programs and service delivery

N/B: Organisations, with the exception of those applying for health systems strengthening activities, are encouraged to apply for two or more of the above technical areas

Geographic Target

The following provinces and districts are the target of activities under this call for funding proposals

Province: Nyanza
District: Homabay, Rachuonyo, Rarieda, Kuria, Gucha, Suba

Province: Western
District: Busia, Teso, Bungoma, Butere/Mumias, Kakamega, Lugari, Vihiga, Mount Elgon

Province: Rift Valley
District: Laikipia, Transmara, Narok, Samburu, Baringo, Nakuru (Rongai), Trans Nzoia, West Pokot

N/B: Organizations applying to support development and implementation of national policies are not restricted to the above geographic scope.

Applicant Eligibility
  • MUST be a registered CBO, FBO or indigenous NGO
  • MUST not be a direct recipient of USG PEPFAR funds currently.
  • Should have relevant experience in the program area(s) applied for.
