Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Associate Protection Officer, and the overall supervision of the Senior Protection Officer, the incumbent will perform the following functions:

Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Associate Protection Officer, and the overall supervision of the Senior Protection Officer, the incumbent will perform the following functions:
- Function as the focal point for Registration activities by coordinating various registration tasks among the registration clerks, in close consultation with the registration supervisor;
- Compile monthly registration reports and prepare registration statistics and data analysis as required;
- Prepare weekly registration schedule for the registration team in Kakuma;
- Coordinate new births and deaths registration within the registration Team and liaising with the pertinent Implementing Partner to secure the monthly list of deaths and births in the camp for entry into the database;
- Attend to community leaders’ and field posts queries as well as attend to refugee letters addressed to the protection unit on registration activities/ cases;
- Ensure that the registration physical files system is functioning well and is up to date;
- Function as the focal point for all registration referrals to other units/ Partners for follow up and intervention, and maintain a case tracking system for all such referrals especially cases of unaccompanied and separated minors and other vulnerable cases that requires urgent attention;
- Undertake in-depth verification interviews and make assessments and recommendations in registration litigation cases;
- Participate in the screening and registration activities of New Arrivals/ asylum seekers referred from Branch Office Nairobi and Sub Office Dadaab, as well as spontaneous new arrivals in Kakuma;
- Issuance of Ration Cards to registered Asylum seekers, making appropriate referrals where necessary and attending to lost cards replacements;
- Assist in coordinating periodic registration activities such as card exchange and population verification exercises, bio-data update exercises, inter-alia;
- Assist the office in monitoring the refugee situation, including refugee movements in the camps and elsewhere;
- Capture and enter the beneficiaries’ biometric features and Bio Data into ProGres Database during the registration process;
- Attend food coordination meetings to respond to lost cards’ concerns in collaboration with other pertinent Agencies/IP’s and make reports on the same;
- Attend to refugee cases at the field posts, assess their registration concerns and prepare registration recommendations;
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Education and Skills: Completion of Secondary education. Very good knowledge of computer and communication skills as well as knowledge of statistical methods.
Experience: Minimum of two years of experience relevant to the function.
Languages: Very good knowledge of and fluency in English and Kiswahili languages. Knowledge of another UN language will be an added advantage.

- Guidance and support are given by the supervisor. The incumbent will also refer to UNHCR Registration Handbook, EXCOM conclusions, and relevant policy papers concerning the registration of refugees.
