The Tanzania Marketing and Communications (T-MARC) Company Ltd. is an independent, Tanzanian-led and controlled organization dedicated to improving the health status of Tanzanian families.

T-MARC employs a dynamic approach, bringing together public and private stakeholders in order to develop and expand consumer markets for a broad range of health products and promote behaviour change that will improve public health.

These products and campaigns contribute to a demonstrable health impact in the areas of HIV/AIDS, reproductive health, child survival and infectious diseases and are specifically targeted at vulnerable, at-risk and low-income audiences.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities

Strategic Planning and programme implementation
  • Support the Managing Director in developing and updating the overall business plan.
  • Lead and Participate with the Technical Directors in the development of quarterly and annual implementation plans.
  • Monitor the activities of the technical departments and ensure that agreed outputs for the project are achieved.
  • Assist the Managing Director in troubleshooting to prevent and resolve potential problems.
  • Compile and draft the quarterly, semi-annual and annual reports, and provide other information as is reasonable, and as requested by Managing Director.
  • Support the Managing Director in developing and strengthening the strategic partnership external stakeholders.
  • Work closely with T-MARC Communication Department to identify NGOs, CBOs and FBOs in similar programmatic areas forT-MARC to collaborate with in the areas of interpersonal and community based communication interventions
  • with the aim to disseminate accurate information leading to behaviour change.
  • Work closely with T-MARC Marketing Department in identifying private sector companies and institution for T-MARC to partner with, in order for companies to leverage their resources more effectively for public health initiatives and to address issues of coverage and consistency related to the distribution of dependable products.
  • Work closely with T-MARC Monitoring, Evaluation and Research Director in planning and implementing evidence-based studies of the activities being undertaken.
  • Work closely T-MARC Company project managers to deliver project output in accordance to the project deliverables stated as per project requirements
  • Perform other functions as directed by the Managing Director.
Management support to Technical Departments
  • Manage the performance of the technical directors (Communication; Marketing; Monitoring and Evaluation, project managers) and support them in delivering programme targets and goals and individual goals.
  • Manage and support relevant cross cutting programmes.
  • Report on work of teams for both internal and external purposes.
Implementation and monitoring of Quality Assurance procedures
  • Ensure that the Quality Assurance Plan is implemented and ensure there is effective peer review of within and between the technical departments.
  • Review outputs for quality control prior to final approval by the Managing Director.
  • Manage risk and reputation.
Knowledge Management and information flows
  • Ensure effective communications between technical departments and between all T-MARC staff.
  • Reinforce a culture of sharing knowledge and of networking (both internal and external).
  • Collect, highlight and disseminate T-MARC's results and "success stories" to external partners and stakeholders.
Organization and special assignments
  • Participate in core HR processes: selection, induction, development, discipline, salary review etc
  • Take the lead in managing activities and changes arising from the establishment of T-MARC as an independent entity
  • Carry out additional tasks requested by the Managing Director that are reasonable in terms of achieving the projects objectives
Basic Requirements

Academic and/or Professional Qualifications
  • A master's degree or higher in one of the following or related fields preferred: Business Administration, Public Health, Project and Organisation Management, and related fields.
Required experience and Knowledge
  • Ten or more years of senior level experience in business or programme management, experience in managing large scale complex programs with multiple deliverables, extensive knowledge of key issues in international development and good understanding of donor requirements and procedures.
Preferred
  • Experience in managing or supporting USAID-funded programs and knowledge of U.S. government regulations (FAR and AIDAR), procedures, and contracting requirements
