Chief Engineer
Reporting to the Director of Manufacturing, the Chief Engineer will be responsible for controlling all the engineering and maintenance work in respect to plant, equipment, infrastructure and social amenities.
He/she will also be responsible for directing all engineering activities for the Company’s production facilities including process development and implementation, quality, core maintenance and environmental, health and safety activities.
The incumbent is likely to be a highly motivated, results oriented, executive with outstanding technical skills and people-savvy leadership ability.
He/She will demonstrate a track record of high integrity, ability to think strategically (outside the box) and implement tactically to achieve success within the constraints of available resources, and exceptional strength in manufacturing engineering.
Demonstrable capacity for continuous improvement in quality, safety, and financial results achieved through hands on leadership and team empowerment.
Academic qualification is likely to be at the level of BSc in Engineering with at least ten years experience in the heavy manufacturing industry with exposure to electrical maintenance, mechanical maintenance and major projects.

Operations Manager
Reporting to the Director of Manufacturing, the incumbent will administer and coordinate the operational activities of Mining, Standard Ash & Premium Ash plants, process and quality sections.
This role will manage the operations of the three dredges, two washery plants so as to achieve cost effective improvement in plant output at the desired quality of product while ensuring company asset life improvement through optimal usage of plant equipment.
He/She will also be looked upon to maintain a high profile for safety, health and environmental standards.
The successful candidate is likely to be the holder of a BSc degree in mining/mechanical/electrical engineering with a minimum of five years industrial experience in a Manufacturing environment, well developed leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, integrity beyond reproach and excellent analytical, highly developed sense of judgment and initiative.

- production of desired quality product;
- controlling of operational (dredges, washery, technical, standard and premium ash plant) costs within budgeted limits;
- controlling and maintaining suitable stocks of trona and CRS to achieve consistent operations;
- achievement of budgeted availability, utility and effectiveness of the three dredges, the washery plants, calciners, milling, crystallization and drying plants;
- achieving desired production scheduling;
- ensuring safe work practices are implemented and followed by the employees;
- developing staff growth plans, timely appraisals, assessment and ensuring motivated and empowered workforce.
Manager - Finance and Strategic Planning
Reporting to the Director of Finance, this position is responsible for the Company’s financial plans and policies i.e. ensure provision of Management & Financial information aimed at enhancing the management decision–making process and facilitate opportunities for cost containment and undertake profitable initiatives.
This will involve participation in the preparation of short & long term strategic plans, as well as supervision of general accounting and budgetary controls and dealing with internal and statutory auditors.
Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Director of Finance, this position is responsible for the Company’s financial plans and policies i.e. ensure provision of Management & Financial information aimed at enhancing the management decision–making process and facilitate opportunities for cost containment and undertake profitable initiatives.
This will involve participation in the preparation of short & long term strategic plans, as well as supervision of general accounting and budgetary controls and dealing with internal and statutory auditors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordination of the company’s short and long term strategic plans (LTSP) as per the company’s and parent company guidelines;
- coordination of the company’s budget process and cycle;
- coordination of strategic activities with the key budget holders and senior management to identify mitigation plans against major business risks to ensure budgeted/target EBITDA is delivered;
- facilitation of the regular EBITDA forecast reports and regular forecasts on need basis;
- collation of the Managing Director’s monthly report on Kenya operations to the Board members and senior management;
- designing reports or systems to ensure that adequate financial information that meet key Stakeholder requirements for decision making in content, presentation and timing are obtained; reparation of financial & management accounts including the statutory accounts;
- Ensure compliance of accounting standards;
- oversee Provident Fund accounting; handling accounting information systems issues.
Experience and background required:
- A University graduate and holder of professional qualification i.e. a CPA (K) or equivalent;
- Minimum 5 – 8 years experience, preferably in manufacturing sector;
- exposure / training in SAP FICO & knowledge of indirect taxation will be an added advantage.
Security Manager
This position reports to the Director of Human Resources and is responsible for the effective protection and safety of Company assets and resources, both human and material.

- Carry out physical security surveys in order to proactively determine security and safety needs;
- enforce compliance with security, safety and operational procedures and instructions through frequent inspections;
- Investigate incidents of loss and/or damage of property;
- Maintain a close liaison with Government law enforcement agencies on matters pertaining to security;
- Offer professional consultancy and advice on physical protective security to the Company and our customers;
- Police and investigate matters related to compliance with the company’s code of conduct.
The incumbent should be a University Graduate level candidate or equivalent with over 5 years’ experience as a senior Police/Military Officer and in addition, have worked in a commercial setup for no less than 5 years.
He/She should be a confident team player with social networking skills, an effective communicator, both orally and in writing; sound knowledge of concepts of crime prevention, safety, investigations and general security management; demonstrate capacity for multi-skilling and growth into roles outside the immediate confines of current responsibilities.
