This is a senior position in the Finance Department and it calls for a mature person with clear understanding of the entire finance function with at least ten (10) years experience in a large organization at a Senior Management level.

Qualifications

Applicants should be holders of BSc or Higher Diploma in Computer Science or any IT related discipline from a reputable institution.

Professional qualification on relational database management system (RDBMS) will be a definite advantage.

Experience

At least two (2) years experience (for BSc holder) or four (4) years (for HND holder) working in a busy IT environment preferably with remote locations connected via a wide area network.

Prior experience with ERP and Library systems will be an added advantage.

Qualities
  • Highly self motivated and enthusiastic, articulate, creative, self-driven and confident, analytical, results oriented and change oriented.
Responsibilities
  • Participate in disaster recovery and business continuity plans of the University.
  • Monitoring and evaluating user access levels and security of Universities databases.
  • Enhancement of database performance through management of requisite parameters to provide fast responses to queries by users.
  • Mapping out logical and physical-designs.
  • Regular updates to other IT technical staff e.g. web developers, database programmers, consultants to ensure database integrity.
  • Ensure adherence to current legislation governing data e.g. Data protection act.
  • Develop standards and database documentation.
  • Provide training to other IT.
6. Network Administrator

Qualifications

Applicants should be holders of BSc or Higher Diploma in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering or any IT related discipline from a reputable institution. CCNA, MCSE will be a definite advantage.

Experience
  • At least two (2) years experience (for BSc holder) or four (4) years (for HND holder) working in a networked but IT environment preferably with remote locations connected via wide area network.
  • Thorough understanding of LAN/WAN topologies and network security is essential.
Qualities
  • Highly self motivate and enthusiastic, articulate, creative, self driven and confident, analytical, results oriented and change oriented.
  • End user/customer focused, keen on detail, team player, able to work under pressure and cost conscious.
Responsibilities
  • To ensure high availability of information technology services and infrastructure by planning, maintaining and monitoring shared IT resources.
  • Ensuring all computer hardware and network operate at their optimal levels by implementing, maintaining and adhering to agreed standards.
  • Continually enhance Egerton's network security by ensuring that appropriate controls are implemented and consistently maintained to safe guard equipment and data.
  • To provide second level user support by diagnosing and resolving reported nework incidents.
  • Interface with all level of both ICT and academic staff (including business partners) to offer mission-critical solutions in supporting networks and desktop operating environments.
  • Ensure automated update of appropriate and latest anti-virus software throughout Egerton.
  • To participate in new systems development and deployment.
  • Configuration and understanding of LAN/WAN topologies.
Security Department

7. Security Officer
Grade IX/X (1 Post)
EU/AF/2009 -1131

Applicants must be holders of a Bachelors degree from a recognized institution or its equivalent and must have received appropriate training in Security work either in the Kenya Police or other equivalent institution.

They must be mature people of at least thirty (30) years of age with unquestionable integrity and ability to supervise staff and carry out routine security work and trained in investigations and work experience of not less than five (5) years.

Applicants who have held the rank of Inspector in the Police Force will have extra advantage. The successful candidate will be required to work odd hours and on Public Holidays.

Reporting to the Chief Security Officer, the successful candidate will handle a variety of security duties in the University.

8. Assistant Security Officer
Grade VII/VIII (1 Post)
EU/AF/2009 -1132

Applicants should be holders of at least a Diploma in Security Matters with at least five (5) years experience in investigations among other security matters.

Applicants who have held the rank of non-commissioned officer (N.C.O.) in the armed forces and more than five (5) years work experience will also be considered.

The successful candidate will perform a variety of security duties as directed by the immediate Supervisor.
