The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) is the premier accounting Institute in Uganda.
It was established by The Accountants Act (Cap 266) in 1992. Its objective is to regulate and develop the standard of accounting and the accounting profession in Uganda.
ICPAU is a member of The International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) and the Eastern Central & Southern Africa Federation of Accountants (ECSAFA).
Since its establishment about a decade and a half ago, ICPAU has registered significant growth and today boasts of over 7,000 members and students.
ICPAU wishes to recruit a well qualified and experienced professional to fill the following impending vacancy:-
Chief Executive Officer

Reporting directly to the Council of ICPAU, the CEO will be the leader of the ICPAU senior management team.
He/she will be responsible for leading and supervising the development, implementation, maintenance and review of the ICPAU strategy, systems and structures and staffing of ICPAU in line with ICPAU's strategic plan, policies and procedures.

Reporting directly to the Council of ICPAU, the CEO will be the leader of the ICPAU senior management team.
He/she will be responsible for leading and supervising the development, implementation, maintenance and review of the ICPAU strategy, systems and structures and staffing of ICPAU in line with ICPAU's strategic plan, policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities will include:
- Provide leadership in the development, implementation and monitoring of ICPAU's strategy, plans, programs and budgets in line with key performance targets and indicators approved by the Council.
- Initiate, implement, supervise, maintain and improve ICPAU's structures, systems, procedures and guidelines which facilitate the implementation of ICPAU's strategy and policy decisions as approved by the Council.
- Develop and supervise the effective implementation of all ICPAU's policies in line with approvals and decisions of the Council.
- Provide technical advice and feedback to the Council, on a periodic basis on actions, programmes, policies and performance of ICPAU, as well as developments in the Institute's external environment that may impact its operations with the aim of enhancing the Institute's strength.
- Act as the chief spokesperson of ICPAU and build the Institute's reputation as the leader of the accounting profession in the country.
- Liaise with IFAC/ECSAFA and other similar institutes in Africa and the world, on matters of common interest in order to enhance ICPAU's reputation and standing in these and other international bodies.
- Direct the operations of the Institute and safeguard its assets and resources as well as perform any other related functions in consultation with the Council necessary to sustain the Institute as a viable and profitable institution of repute.
- Recruit, train and retain a team of professional staff with capability relevant to efficiently and effectively deliver the ICPAU strategy.
- Perform any other duty relevant to the development and promotion of ICPAU and/or the accountancy profession, which may be assigned by the Council from time to time.
Experience:
- Should have at least 10 years of post-qualification experience with at least 5 years at a senior management position in a reputable organization, with strong orientation in running and managing organizations successfully.
Qualifications:
- University degree in any of the following fields: Economics, Statistics, Social Sciences, Law, Engineering, Business Administration or Commerce,
- A professional qualification in accountancy, and
- MBA from a reputable university/institution will be an added advantage.
