Nzoia Sugar Company Limited, a sugar manufacturing company situated in Western Kenya invites suitable Kenyan candidates to fill the following positions:

Chief Internal Auditor

The key objective of the job is to develop and implement an effective internal management control system. The successful applicant for the position will report to the Managing Director.

This is a critical position in the company and therefore the successful candidate must demonstrate exemplary leadership qualities, maturity and ability to work with dedication.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Carry out institutional risk evaluation, efficiency audits apd investigations as may be required by Management and Board and provide litigation support as required.
  • Provide input in the design of standard forms, annual budgets, strategic plans and their review processes and technical support to other departments internally and externally.
  • Prepare Board Audit Submission reports, implement control and review departmental budgets and issue Audit reports.
  • Examine daily transactions to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures and evaluate measures put in place by Management to ensure company assets are accounted for and safe guarded from losses.
  • Conduct financial and systems audit, review IT policies and ascertain the reliability of Management data developed.
  • Ensure compliance with Tax regulations and other statutory requirements, design, develop and update the internal audit manual, develop and implement the annual audit program.
  • Facilitate compliance with auditing standards ICPAK guidelines and reviews.
  • Liaise with external auditors and follows up their recommendations.
Qualifications, Competencies and Experience
  • Bcom (Accounts option) or equivalent. Those with post graduate qualification will have an added advantage.
  • CPA (K) and a registered member of ICPAK or equivalent.
  • Age: 30 - 49 years.
  • Certified Information Systems Auditor
  • 8 years relevant experience.
  • Computer literate
Instruments Engineer (Re-Advertisement)

The key objective of the job is to ensure proper maintenance/functioning of all instruments and control systems and equipments in factory.

The successful applicant for the position will report to the Engineering Manager (Electrical).

This is a critical position in Factory operations and therefore the successful candidate must demonstrate leadership qualities, maturity and ability to work with dedication.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
  • To ensure proper operation and maintenance of instrumentation and control systems in the factory.
  • To timely initiate the procurement/replenishment of relevant spares for the instrumentation and control systems.
  • To ensure proper functioning and maintenance of the weighbridges and other weighing and measuring equipment.
  • To calibrate and standardize all scales in line with Government regulations.
  • To ensure proper adjustment and setting of the safety shutdown systems of the equipment in the plant.
  • To effectively carry out preventive maintenance of all plant instrumentation and control systems.
  • To ensure installation and commissioning of new instrumentation equipment in liaison with relevant authorities.
  • To ensure accurate maintenance of all instrumentation, control systems and equipment inventory.
  • To carry out suitable modifications to improve/sustain operations.
  • To liaise with other departments to ensure that all instrumentation equipments are functioning.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Academic/Prof. Qualification. Bsc. Electronics/Instrumentation or equivalent
  • Relevant Work Experience: 4 years
  • Skills: Computer Knowledge
  • Job Knowledge: Full understanding in instrumentation and control engineering
  • Age: 27 - 45 years.
  • Those with Higher National Diploma (HND) and relevant experience of six (6) years will also be considered.

The successful candidates will undergo a two year training programme and on successful completion of the training, they will be considered for substantive appointment.

Qualifications
  • O level B+ and above
  • Aged 20-30 years.
  • Minimum of 2nd Class Upper Division degree in the following disciplines
  • Chemical Engineering or Food Science and Technology
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Bachelor of Commerce - (Accounts option) or equivalent from recognized institutions.
  • Computer literate
