Job Title: Corporate Affairs Manager
Department: Corporate Affairs
Business Unit: Uganda
Location: Kampala

Reports To: Genera! Manager (in country) with functional (dotted line) reporting to Vice President Corporate Social Responsibility and External Relations at Tuliow Group Level.

Job Purpose: To develop and implement strategies for enhancing the reputation of Tullow and to build sustainable external partnerships to support the achievement of Tullow's long term corporate objectives in Uganda.

Responsibilities /Key Objectives:

External Stake Holder Management
  • Overall to handle Inter-Government liaison and Industry affairs by insuring effective and consistent representation in industry affairs and lobby with external parties and stakeholders.
  • Develop and steward the strategies for representing Tullow's interests at various forums from community, district, and government through to regional level.
  • Ensure that position papers on key issues are developed and constantly updated by the respective functional heads,
  • Coordinate Networking with Government, communities, professional organizations and various stakeholders in relation to issues that affect the sustainability of Tullow's business in Uganda.
Corporate Communications and Media Management
  • Advise the General Manager on all issues related to external communications and
  • corporate reputation, identify media opportunities to promote awareness of Tullow's Oil and Gas activities in Uganda
  • Liaise with Tullow Plc's External Affairs and Corporate Social Responsibility Function to ensure that Tullow Uganda's external communications build and maintain brand awareness and meet business objectives of Tullow specifically and Tullow 'Group', generally and vice versa
  • Support the development and implementation of a consistent policy and approach to external corporate events including corporate sponsorships and donations etc.
  • To compile crisis communication policy and serve as the principal contact for incoming communication from the media.
  • To review communications such as press releases, speeches, publications or events to convey the desired Tullow image.
Corporate issues Management
  • Support the management team in developing a business risk framework (matrix) and act as custodian of the same
  • Support the General Manager in monitoring implementation of interventions to manage business risks.
  • Coordinate the mapping of key country business issues and priorities identified and monitor implementation of agreed mitigating actions
Corporate Social Responsibility
  • Develop frameworks for mapping local community priorities and advise appropriate strategic interventions to support the communities in line with Tullow's Corporate Social Responsibility and community relations policies.
  • Identify sustainable partners for delivery of Corporate Social Responsibility projects at all levels.
  • Responsibility for managing the Country Corporate Social Responsibility budget and reporting to Group on all Corporate Social Responsibility and business related sustainable development initiatives.
Experience and Education
  • Degree in Business or Communication studies preferred
  • Over 5 years experience in a senior corporate affairs or public relations position in in international business organisation; minimum of 3 years as head of corporate or public relations
  • Previous work experience in Africa preferred.
