CARE International in Kenya Careers: Budget Coordinator and Finance Officer

CARE International in Kenya is looking for qualified candidates to fill the following positions:

Budget Coordinator
Ref: HR2009/10/27

Job Summary

Reporting to the Grants Manager, the Budget Coordinator will be responsible for the preparation of monthly Project Expenditure Reports against approved budget, assist in the preparation of Donor financial reports and Management report analysis.

Key Responsibilities;
  • Preparing monthly Project Expenditure Reports.
  • Assist in the preparation of Donor Reports.
  • Coordinate the preparation of and monitoring of the Country Office Financial Budget.
  • Coordinate the preparation of and monitoring of the Shared Project Cost Budget.
  • In liaison with the Project Managers, assist in the preparation of project budgets.
  • Coordinate the auditing of Sub Grant Accounting Expense Reports.
  • Coordinate the preparation of monthly/quarterly funds drawn down from Donors.
Required Qualifications/Skills;
  • CPA Part III
  • Degree in Commerce, Accounting or Business Studies
  • At least five years experience in Financial and Management Accounting Reporting.
  • Demonstrated skills computer, problem solving, planning and budget management skills.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to work as a team member to achieve the overall goals of the team
Finance Officer - Elwak
Ref: HR2009/10/28

Job Summary

The Finance Officer will work within CARE’s RREAD II Project (Region Resilience Enhancement against Drought II – RREAD II) in Elwak, North Eastern Province for period of 8 months with a possibility of extension.

Reporting to the Finance Manager on technical issues and to the Program Manager on daily activities, the Finance Officer will be responsible for the overall financial management of the Sub-Office Books of Accounts and Sub-Office Shared Cost Budget based on generally accepted accounting practices and CARE Kenya’s financial and budgetary policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities;
  • Processing payments, cash receipts, and journal entries.
  • Monitoring advances to ensure timely liquidation.
  • Monitoring sub office cash position.
  • Maintaining bank ledger and preparing bank reconciliation reports.
  • Capturing financial data into the financial system.
  • Assist in project budget formulation.
Required Qualifications/Skills;
  • CPA Part II and Pursuing Part III.
  • Degree in Commerce, Accounting or Business Studies.
  • At least three years experience in accounting, preferable for a humanitarian organization.
  • Demonstrated skills computer, problem solving, planning and budget management skills.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills and the ability to implement conflict-sensitive programming.
  • Ability to work as a team member to achieve the overall goals of the team and serve beneficiaries.
  • Willing to work and live in difficult and demanding locations.
  • Fluent in English and Swahili. Boran languages skills are an advantage.
