Based in Western province, the BCC Coordinator will be responsible for organizing and leading the APHIA II Health Communications & Marketing (HCM) response at the provincial level. Reporting to the Field Outreach Manager he/ she will specifically be responsible for:-
- Harmonizing of behavior change communication messages among the different stakeholders
- Coordinating implementation of the various activities on the ground
- Organize and plan campaign related promotional activities at the community level gathering and providing community input into the national and local public health campaigns
- Managing the financial and administrative aspects of the program - drawing out the regional budget for the program and managing the spending levels.
- Participate in provincial BCC steering committees
- Designing and disseminating community specific IEC materials and messages
- Vetting nationally created campaigns in the province and providing feedback
- Organizing any provincial program training needs. This includes planning and developing training programs, training materials and occasionally facilitating
- Develop BCC monthly work plans and coordinate implementation of the same
- Supervise BCC officers in the assigned region
- Identify implementing partners
- Train peer educators and other implementing partners
- Ensure all field activities are adequately monitored
- Coordinate use of field resources namely vehicles
- Carrying out provincial BCC/ IEC needs analysis
- Compile monthly program activity reports and budget
- Responsible for achievement of region specific objectives
Qualifications, Skills and Attributes required to perform the duties of the post:
- Relevant university degree in public health or social sciences
- Three years experience in program management; community development and/or communication either at national or regional level.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills and ability to set priorities
- Experience in managing program budgets
- Knowledge of interpersonal communication program design and HIV/AIDS issues or program implementation experience.
- Energetic, flexible, proactive, adaptable to changing priorities & ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Proven ability to conceptualize, plan and execute ideas as well as transfer knowledge and skills.
- Ability to express clearly and concisely ideas and concepts in written and oral form.
- Ability to organize and implement training/ meetings etc.
- Proven ability to work without supervision
- Knowledge of computer applications.
- Supervision experience will be an added advantage
