Communications and Advocacy Officer– Somalia Programme

Based in Nairobi, Kenya

Saferworld is an independent non-governmental organisation that works to prevent and reduce violent conflict and promote cooperative approaches to security. We believe that everyone should be able to lead peaceful and rewarding lives free from insecurity and violence.

Saferworld has been working in Africa since 1997, with a primary focus upon East Africa and the Horn region.

We are seeking a communications and advocacy officer who will lead the implementation of Advocacy and Communication initiatives within Saferworld’s Somali Non-State Actors programme

The successful candidate will be required to have good understanding of Somali political and cultural dynamics, and sensitive to ethnic differences.

A minimum of five years experience working on advocacy and communications with governments and/or non-governmental organisations is also required, together with a masters degree in peace/conflict studies, development, international relations (or equivalent professional experience);
