Main Purpose of the Job
Main Purpose of the Job
- The incumbent will perform the Engineering Management function for the allotted section of responsibility,
- managing the Engineering Fitters, plant maintenance, implementation and sustenance of consequence driven maintenance (CDM),
- Cost control, and ensuring machine condition and uptime is optimised.
- The incumbent will further manage the Engineering Dept on the day to day operation and problem solving
Main Responsibilities
- Technical Investigations and fault finding exercises via CDM or other methods.
- Setting of standards and enforcing high level of technical work delivered from his staff.
- Liaison with Engineering colleagues, external companies and contractors.
- Project supervision and responsibility for on-site contractors.
- Involvement in routine operational and administrative issues in Engineering Department on a day-to-day basis.
- Performs supervisory relief work and is responsible for training of engineering staff.
- Performs energy audits and optimization of generation and supply.
- To ensure plant performance is fully optimised using planned and preventative maintenance tools and condition monitoring systems. This shall include budgeting and expense control for both M & R and Capital Investment. .
- To maintain and update the various Work Orders, work instructions, training manuals etc in line with the company’s good practices.
- To monitor the performance of the staff and perform appraisals, and to administer discipline where necessary.
- To coordinate all calibration work of instrumentation and equipment for the section, with special focus on those related to CCP's.
- To form part of the Engineering Middle Management structure by providing operational support, as and when needed, even after normal working hours.
- To monitor report and take corrective actions to improve upon KPI's on a monthly basis.
KPIs/ Performance Measurement (Optional)
- Complexity of varying degrees within disciplines of an engineering section.
- Accurate detail management of spare parts, machine-requirements, fault finding and technical support for optimal line performance.
- Engineering maintenance management of Plant & Equipment, expenditure control and effectiveness of M & I performed.
- Project management control.
- Accurate history records and work orders management
Preferred Educational Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering – Plant/Production option
Number of years of Experience
- Minimum 5 years experience in a managerial position
