Geothermal Development Company Limited (GDC) Jobs and Career Opportunities

Geothermal Development Company Limited (GDC) is a large organization engaged in exploration and development of geothermal resources in Kenya.

To achieve our objectives, we are seeking to engage staff with the responsibilities described below.

This will involve geothermal surface exploration and working on drill rigs in Barrier, Namarunu, Emuruangogalak, Silali, Paka and Korosi volcanic fields of the Northern Kenya Rift Valley.

The ideal candidates should be aged between 20 and 30 years and have the following attributes: team player, high integrity, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, flexible and willing to work long hours in a field and camp environment without supervision.

As part of realizing vision 2030 energy objectives, GDC has set to develop steam equivalent to 4000MW in the next 20 year.

This translates to drilling about 1000 wells and operating about 12 rigs.

The strategy will enable the country to realize an average of 210 MWe annually.

The key success factor for GDC strategy is hinged on recruiting highly motivated people.

Drilling Department

Certificates from only recognized Universities and Colleges shall be accepted.

1. Prilling Engineer

The main purpose of this job is to manage drilling rig(s) so that wells are drilled safely, efficiently and at the least cost to the Company.

Responsibilities: Provision of engineering support in the drilling rig operations, drilling planning, budgeting, offering logistical support, preparation and execution of drilling programs.

Qualifications: BSc degree (Upper 2"a Class Honors in Mechanical Engineering) with 2 years experience in an engineering function.

2. Drilling Superintendent

The main purpose of this job is to manage drilling rig(s) so that wells are drilled safely, efficiently and at the least cost to the Company.

Responsibilities: Supervision of drilling operations to ensure that all wells are drilled in a safe, timely, efficient and cost-effective manner in accordance with the drilling programs.

Qualifications: Higher National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with at least Credit Pass and 2 years experience in a busy engineering function.

3. Drilling Supervisor

Responsibilities: Offer leadership and guidance of drilling operations to ensure that all wells are drilled in a safe, timely, efficient and cost-effective manner in accordance with the drilling programs.

Qualifications: National Diploma with at least Credit Pass Mechanical Engineering with 2 years experience in an engineering function.

4. Cementing Engineers

Qualifications: BSc degree (Upper 2nd Class Honors -Mechanical Engineering) with 2 years experience in an engineering function. Good knowledge of ICT will be an added advantage.

5. Cementing Equipment Operator/Technician

6. Rig Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical)
