The Japan Center for Conflict Prevention (JCCP) Jobs: IT Engineer

JCCP is a Non-Governmental Organisation established in 1999 in Japan. JCCP’s mission is to contribute to global peace and security by building human capacity for conflict prevention and peace-building.

JCCP specialises in capacity building of NGOs and civil society, community security, experts’ training in peacekeeping operations, peace-building for civilian, police and military, education and livelihood support.

JCCP has 4 sub-offices worldwide; Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Balkan and Kenya.

Currently JCCP Representative Office in Kenya is initiating a project in Somalia for community safety. In this regard, the organisation is seeking a prospective candidate to be responsible for the following duties:

Location: Kenya - Nairobi

Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the direct supervision of IT experts and overall supervision of the Representative of JCCP Kenya, the duties and responsibilities of the IT Engineer will be as follows:
  • To develop database and web portal based on open source platform
  • To draft relevant documents such as specifications and manuals
  • To receive inquiries from Somali partners when required , resolve technical incidents and report to the representative (Help desk operation)
  • To perform other duties as directed by the representative.
Education/Experiences
  • University degree or certificate of relevant school
  • Fluency in spoken and written Somali and English;
  • Minimum 3 years experience in programming based on LAMP (Linux + Apache + MySQL + PHP)
  • Actual knowledge about IT infrastructure
  • Basic knowledge about statistical software package such as SPSS desirable
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Self motivated and ability to maintain necessary outputs; and
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with supervisors, colleagues and partners.
