The Walter Reed Project US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) Program Kisumu West District, is seeking to recruit qualified persons to fill the following positions:

1. Clinical Officer / Mentor
(One Post)

Opening Date: 30th October, 2009
Closing Date: 12th November, 2009
Location: Kisumu West District

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the implementation of PMTCT intervention strategies/activities in the program sites/districts.
  • Coordinate the assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation and monitoring of the PMTCT strategies and interventions in the sites/district.
  • Undertake regular field visits to project locations/sites to assess local needs and conditions and provide technical assistance in the implementation of intervention strategies for the prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV.
  • Implement an effective linkage network between PMTCT and HIV/AIDS care and treatment services in the respective departments and sites.
  • Carry out regular rotations to nearby local/satellite clinics to assist in mentorship, service provision and direct patient care with an aim of preventing mother – to – child transmission of HIV/AIDS.
  • Collaborate and network with other relevant stakeholders in the implementation of PMTCT intervention strategies including early infant HIV diagnosis at the program sites. Provide case reviews and quality assurance through continuing medical education
  • Responsible for writing and collection of accurate program reports on trainings and technical assistance activities as well as findings and recommendations for strengthening services in the PMTCT clinics on a monthly, quarterly and yearly basis.
Minimum Qualification and Experience
  • Diploma in Clinical Medicine & Surgery
  • Must be registered with Kenya Clinical Officers’ Council
  • Minimum one year relevant experience working preferably in a busy HIV/AIDS set up.
  • Excellent knowledge of computer packages especially Microsoft Office Suite.
Desirable Skills
  • Good communication and Interpersonal skills.
  • Self-initiative, team worker and works well with minimal supervision.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of HIV/AIDS and its management will be an added advantage.
  • Background knowledge of geographic and demographic structure of the District will also be an added advantage.
2. Renovations Assistant
(One Post)

Opening Date: 30th October, 2009
Closing Date: 12th November, 2009
Location: Kisumu West District

Duties and responsibilities:

The duties of the position shall include the following:
  • Drawing of working plans
  • Drawing up Bill of Quantities (BQs)
  • Review BQs from PEPFAR partner sites
  • Supervision of renovations sites
Minimum Requirements:
  • Applicants must have a diploma in one of the following fields
  1. Building construction
  2. Civil engineering
  3. Architecture
  • Must have a minimum of two years working experience in the construction industry.
Additional Requirement:
  • Must be conversant with autocad and archicad.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office packages
Other skills required:
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision
  • A team player
