Purpose of Role:
The Business Development Consultant will be responsible for growth and development of DuPont in East Africa.
Participating as a member of the business growth team, the Business Development Consultant will play a key role in identifying new sales opportunities and drive business growth in the country through customer and market need definition, as well as developing a leading edge on competitive offerings in the industry.
Focus will be on the following sectors: Food Processing, Construction, Mining, Industrial and Chemical.

Purpose of Role:
The Business Development Consultant will be responsible for growth and development of DuPont in East Africa.
Participating as a member of the business growth team, the Business Development Consultant will play a key role in identifying new sales opportunities and drive business growth in the country through customer and market need definition, as well as developing a leading edge on competitive offerings in the industry.
Focus will be on the following sectors: Food Processing, Construction, Mining, Industrial and Chemical.
Key Responsibilities:
- To facilitate business growth and develop a strong business position in East Africa.
- Initiate and conduct Rapid Market Assessment for DuPont’s strategic business units (SBUs) not present in the country.
- Support and advise SBUs in getting started and in developing their route to the market.
- Drive growth projects into commercialization (including identifying new customers and applications).
- Build relationships with external parties including suppliers, industry associations, distributors, procurement managers and customers.
- Develop leading edge knowledge on competitive offering and innovative products.
- Develop and implement a road map for assigned portfolio
- In conjunction with the Strategy Global Business Units, develop and lead industry road shows for the country.
Qualifications & Experience:
- University background – minimum Bachelors Degree (preferably an MBA or an Engineering Degree)
- You should have a minimum of 3 – 5 years experience in a Sales (customer relations) / market development / business development / market research and/or new product commercialization environment. Previous experience gained in a blue chip multinational FMCG company will be preferred.
- Ideally candidates should have gained sales experience within one of the following sectors: chemical, metallurgy, automotive, aviation, oil & gas, fast moving consumer goods (such as food manufacturing / brewing/ soft drinks or transportation industry).

- Be a self-starter, quick learner with strong networking & well developed communication skills
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and have the ability to build trusting relationships externally and internally
- Must be proactive - show a high level of energy and dedication and strongly results oriented
- Commercially aware – must be able to build a new business in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, particularly with the FMCG companies
- Proven track record of meeting sales targets/ developing new business
- Ability to work independently and be an entrepreneurial manager
- Proven track record in Kenya or Uganda or Tanzania with commercial credibility
