The Center seeks to recruit a Research Officer and Field Coordinator.
Research Officer
The overall purpose of the job is to organize and manage the baseline survey of a Packard family planning project in Western Kenya (both Nyanza and Western Provinces).
The position will be based in Nairobi.

Research Officer
The overall purpose of the job is to organize and manage the baseline survey of a Packard family planning project in Western Kenya (both Nyanza and Western Provinces).
The position will be based in Nairobi.
Duties
- Organize and manage the baseline survey
- Monitor and manage the partners’ subcontracts
- Data analysis
- Report writing for the baseline
- Literature reviews
- Assist with field implementation of the longitudinal surveys
Essential Skills
- MA, MSc, or MPH in any one of the following disciplines: Public Health/Epidemiology, Demography, Sociology, Anthropology or Development Studies
- At least two years of hands-on experience in managing qualitative data collection and carrying out data analysis
- Familiarity and experience with social science/health research protocol
- Good computer literacy
- Interest in both program management and research
Desirable
- Knowledge of statistical and qualitative software packages.
- Experience of working in urban slum settings
- Ability to work independently, set priorities, juggle tasks, meet deadlines
- Initiative and innovation in assessing situations, conflict resolution, team building
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent oral and written communication in English
Field Coordinator
The position will be based at the Great Lakes University Kisumu.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The position will be based at the Great Lakes University Kisumu.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Execute the baseline survey.
- Monitor implementation activities.
- Manage systems for monitoring and evaluating performance of fieldworkers and adherence to quality control guidelines, including carrying out spot checks in the field.
- Manage flow of questionnaires, including tracking of questionnaires sent back from the office to the field for call-backs.
- Participate in planning and carrying out community mobilization and dissemination activities to community members, policy makers, and scientific audiences.
- Produce technical and other progress reports on field operations as required.
Essential (Skills and Qualifications)
- A BA in Social Science;
- Experience in managing field work;
- Strong organizational skills;
- Strong writing skills;
- Fluency in English, Swahili and Dholuo.
Desirable
- Willingness to travel around the Western Kenya region extensively;
- Knowledge of statistical packages;
- Experience in working in slum settlements;
