Within our Corporate Headquarters, we our looking for an accomplished professional to act in the role as the Senior Technical Advisor.
The STA will work with international and national consultants in Tanzania, Zambia, Ghana, and Mali to guide research.
This will involve working closly with CARE's Director of Agricuture to select consultants, develop contracts, and manage their overall research.
Principal Responsibilities:
The STA will have two main responsiblities: oversight of and partipation in a global coalition to document, model, and guide a field check of the legitimacy of the Regenerative and Conservation Agriculture approach in Africa (with a focus on Tanzania, Zambia, Ghana, and Mali); and strengthening the CARE portfolio of Conservation Agriculture projects in Africa to achive maximum impact and quality.
The incumbent will oversee the IFPRI modeling exercise and integrate it into the overall analysis.
The STA will work alongside IFPRI to identify geographic areas, agro-ecosystems, populations, and socio-economic characteristics of farmers for whom the RCA approach will be appropriate.
S/he will engage in the development of a coalition of partners for RCA. S/he will identify the technical assistance needs of countries implementing RCA in Africa and establish a robust M&E and impact framework for CARE’s California portfolio.

Required Qualifications
- College Degree with focus on international development
- Applicants should have extensive experience in agriculture and livelihood practices throughout Africa. A strong background in Conservation Agriculture is desirable.
- Applicants should have strong analytical skills and have a background in research.
- Familiarity with African agriculture research organizations would be helpful.
- High-level English skills, excellent computer skills, knowledge of agriculture and gender issues, experience in communications with donors.
Desired Qualifications
- MS in Agriculture and/or field related to international development
- Five years experience in communication and coordination of international agriculture development agendas and actors, with at least two years experience at the field level and exceptional writing skills.
- Native-level English ability, excellent skills in developing PPT presentations, understanding of CARE's Conservation Agriculture work and priorities, technical agriculture background and experience.
- Strong working and living experience in Africa is strongly preferred and encourage with applicants.
