Christian Partners Development Agency (CPDA) Jobs in Kenya

Christian Partners Development Agency (CPDA) is a non profit, non partisan, organization registered as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) under the new NGO coordination Act (1990) in 1993.

Our programmatic focus is in two categories; namely Governance and Democracy, and Integrated Food Security for Sustainable Livelihoods.

These programmes are currently implemented in Rift Valley, Eastern and Western Provinces in Kenya.

Our mission is to uplift the living standards of the poor and disadvantaged communities in Kenya and beyond through partnership, capacity building and development programs that empower them to respond more effectively to their needs.

CPDA wishes to recruit suitably qualified proactive and dynamic person to fill the following position.

Field Officer - Governance and Democracy

Reporting to the Monitoring ft Evaluation Officer the successful candidate will provide support for the efficient implementation of the Western Kenya Community Livelihoods Empowerment Programme (WECKLEP)

The specific objective of WCKLEP is to enhance promotion of good governance, improved livelihood strategies and improved community health among 4000 h/h in Vihiga District through capacity building within the framework of Neighbourhood Assemblies (NAs).

She or he will be stationed at CPDA's Western Region Office Chavakali -Vihiga District-Western Province

Key Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience:

* Applicants must be aged between 25- 40 years with Minimum 2 years working experience in an International or National NGO.
* Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences or Development Studies.
* Post graduate training in Project Cycle Management and Participatory Monitoring and Evaluation would be an added advantage
* Proficiency in Computers especially Microsoft office (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word, Publisher, Outlook).

Competences required:

* Project Proposal writing/Resource Mobilization, Report writing, Analytic and Presentation skills, Advocacy and Campaigns.
* A team player capable of working with other field staff to deliver results within deadlines.
* Knowledge of National/international governance & democracy processes
* Understanding of HIV&AIDSs and Gender Mainstreaming in Programming.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Enhance community participation in democracy and governance processes at the local and national and even global levels.
* Coordinate Divisional Facilitators' activities and reports to ensure effective community participation in governance processes.
* Undertake all assignments specifically given by the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer within deadlines.
* Ensure timely and open door communication to partners, the community and other stakeholders.
* Work in liaison with the Finance and Administration Manager and the Projects Documentalist.
* Liaise with all the other field staff within Agriculture, Health and Sanitation components to ensure that integration is maintained during implementation while understanding all the 4 results of WECKLEP.
* Any other Duties as may from time to time be assigned to you.

Gender and Governance Officer

Reporting to the Executive Director the successful candidate will provide support for the efficient implementation of the Gender and Governance Programme III (GGPIII).

Specific objective of GGP111 Project is to advocate for women's participation and contribution in governance and decision making processes at the local and national level and actively lobby for women issues at the proposed project areas.

She or he will be stationed at CPDA's Head office in Nairobi.

Key Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience:

* Applicants must be aged between 25- 40 years with Minimum 2 years working experience in an NGO environment.
* Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences or Development Studies and/or Extensive Training in Gender related studies.
* Proficiency in Computers Applications i.e. Microsoft (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word, Publisher, Outlook).

Competences required:

* Project Proposal writing/Resource Mobilization, Report Writing, Advocacy and Campaigns Analytical and Presentation skills, Gender analysis skills
* A team player capable of working with other field staff to deliver results within deadlines.
* Knowledge of National/international governance & democracy processes
* Understanding of HIV & AIDS and Gender Mainstreaming in Programming.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Ensure that a gender knowledge and practices survey is conducted.
* Ensure that gender and governance informative posters and CPDA's gender policy is reviewed and adapted for printing and disseminated to project beneficiaries throughout the project implementation period to ensure that the community members have sufficient information on gender and governance concepts, get to understand and appreciate women's contribution to nation building.
* Coordinate Continuous community mobilization and sensitization by supervising the work of 5 district sensitizers and 15 mobilizers in accordance with the implementation structure.
* Ensure that CPDA Works closely with UNIFEM, the project beneficiaries and all stakeholders in supporting and promoting transformative leadership that is women led through community sensitization and trainings.
* Actively Participate in the Monitoring, evaluation and learning of the project through continuously assessing the results of actual work against the expected stipulated results under GGP.
* Ensure Timely Reporting and documentation within the GGP (Gender and Governance Programme) Guidelines.
* Work in Liaison with the Finance and administration Manager and other Programme Officers.
* Any other Duties as may from time to time be assigned.
