Multimedia University College of Kenya Jobs

The Multimedia University College of Kenya was established by the Kenya Government under Legal Notice No. 155 of November 2008 as a constituent college of the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).

The successor to the Kenya College of Communications Technology (KCCT), the University College aims at becoming a regional leader in the discovery, preservation and dissemination of knowledge in the area of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and related academic disciplines.

The College invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to the following positions.

1. Deputy Principal (Academic Affairs)

Requirements

Applicants must be holders of a PhD and must have served in a public university at the level of Associate Professor or above.

They should have at least five (5) years of academic and research experience at senior level and possess demonstrated capacity for leadership in an academic and/or research institution.

In addition, candidates are expected to be familiar with national and international higher education policies, laws and regulations.

Applicants with proven capacity to promote learning, teaching, research and development in a university will have an added advantage.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will work under the general guidance of the College Principal and shall be responsible for planning for academic programmes; preparation of academic regulations; timetabling; examinations; certificates and transcripts; graduation; students admissions and records; counselling and discipline; academic support services; academic staff training and appraisal; allocation of academic facilities; and provision of a secretariat for the committees of the council and the academic board.

2. Deputy Principal (Finance & Administration)

Requirements

Applicants must be holders of a PhD and must have served in a recognized university at the level of Associate Professor or above.

They should have at least five (5) years of academic and research experience at senior level and possess demonstrated capacity for leadership in an academic and/or research institution.

In addition, candidates are expected to be familiar with national and international higher education policies, laws and regulations.

Applicants with proven capacity and relevant experience at an institution of higher learning will have an added advantage.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will work under the general guidance of the Principal and shall be responsible for Staff Recruitment and Training; Financial Administration; Development and Appraisal of non teaching staff; Staff Promotions and Discipline; Staff Welfare services; Development and Maintenance of Physical Infrastructure; Allocation of support facilities and services; Registry administration; Transport; and provision of a secretariat for the committees of the council and the academic board.

3. Deputy Principal (Research & Extension)

Requirements

Applicants must be holders of a PhD and must have served in a recognized university at the level of Associate Professor or above.

They should have at least five (5) years of academic and research experience at senior level and possess demonstrated capacity for leadership in an academic and/or research institution.

In addition, candidates are expected to be familiar with national, regional and higher education and research policies, laws and regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will work under the general guidance, of the Principal and shall be responsible for strategic development of world-class excellence in research; maintenance of the University's standing as a leading research institution; expansion of research activity and funding; promotion of innovation, interdisciplinary opportunities for external collaborations and alliances; promotion of internal research collaboration; coordinate further education programmes; initiating projects which derive benefits from the research findings; and provide a secretariat for the Council and the Academic Board Committees.

Terms and Conditions of Service

Successful candidates will be offered a competitive remuneration package, including house allowance and other benefits in accordance with the Kenya Government Public Service Guidelines for public universities.

Employment will be on a five (5) year contract renewable once depending on performance.
