Project Coordinator Job Vacancy: Nation Media group

Nation Media Group, the leading media house in East and Central Africa, is embarking on the Newspapers in Education (NiE) initiative, in partnership with the Ministry of Education and other stakeholders whose objective is to promote literacy and develop lifelong reading habits among young people and their families.

We are looking for a Newspapers in Education Project Co-ordinator to be responsible for the overall management of the Newspapers in Education project to ensure the project successfully meets and exceeds its objectives.

Reporting to the Brand Manager / NiE Project Manager, the job-holder will be responsible for the following;

Key result areas will include:
  • Developing annual NiE marketing plans and budgets in collaboration with the brand marketing team;
  • Developing circulation distribution plan with Circulation Dept. and overseeing timely and efficient newspaper deliveries to participating schools;
  • Establishing contact with Partners including proposal writing, pitching and managing overall client relationship.
  • Managing timely production of NiE publications in liaison with various stakeholders on a regular basis;
  • Developing contact with schools including managing recruitment, training, distribution and overall relationship with the school administration; and liaising with the Ministry of Education (both at Head Office and district level) on relevant approvals and operational issues;
  • Planning and execution of project M&E including relevant surveys (where applicable) and preparing management and partner reports on a regular basis; and
  • Working closely with the Editorial department to develop a dedicated NiE pull-out.
Skills, knowledge and experience requirement:
  • University graduate in Business, Education, Development or Social Studies. Postgraduate qualifications in Education, Project Management and Social Research an added advantage;
  • Excellent analytical skills and command of English and Kiswahili, both written and spoken. Good proposal-writing skills desired;
  • Knowledge of the 8-4-4 curriculum and working experience with the Ministry of Education an added advantage;
  • Good geographical knowledge of Kenya and willingness to travel across the country and work long hours.
