PROGRAM ASSISTANT

Medecins du Monde, thereafter MdM, is an international NGO working on HIV/AIDS development projects in Tanzania since _ 1992. It is currently planning a program in Temeke District focused on Harm Reduction for Injecting Drug Users (IDUs).

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

• Responsible for planning activities ; Lead MdM's harm reduction team to establish working plans and appropriate follow-up of the staff involved in activities

• Lead MdM's social team in the development of harm reduction and prevention activities

• Participate in, record and distribute meeting minutes

• Provide translation for the coordination team during meetings

• Assist with office program event organization as needed

• Map services to IDUs in the district and provide all relevant information on IDUs and services

• Develop IEC materials and strategies.

• Is trained in HR field and/or have regular trainings on HR

• Is trained to become HR trainer

• Make links between the medical team, outreach team and administrative team

• Participate in report Writing

• Organize events, such as MdM's World Aids Day response

Responsible for the safety of people and property and organisation of the implementation of safety rules and for ensuring that decisions are applied.

• Is in charge of the quality of the overall climate and the working conditions at the DIC

• Assist the coordination team in maintaining regular relations with the local authorities and partners (DCC, associations)

• Other duties as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

• Degree on Social/Medical Science or similar.

• Experience in social work (2 years)

• Experience in outreach work (2 years)

• Knowledge of HIV/AIDS

• Involvement in CSO appreciated

• Knowledge in the field of Human Rights desirable

• Ability to work in English

• Ability to follow strict security rules

• Ability to establish trust and communicate effectively with active drug users

• Appropriate skills and knowledge of local resources likely to be of interest to the drug using population

• Organizational skills, accurate record keeping, successful networking with groups of individuals at risk

• Ability to recognize and maintain appropriate personal boundaries

• Able to work in the natural environment of drug users and within service settings, both formally and infonnally

• Know how to obtain and provide referrals to a comprehensive range of community services and facilities

DURATION OF APPOINTMENT:

The successful candidates will sign a 12 months contract, with an initial probation period of 3 months.
