Kenya Coconut Development Authority (KCDA) is a State Corporation under the Ministry of Agriculture whose primary mandate is to develop the coconut industry through regulatory, research and promotion of the coconut sub-sector in Kenya, in line with the national development goals articulated in the Vision 2030.
The Board of Directors wishes to recruit a qualified, dynamic, visionary and dedicated person citizen to fill the above position. This position calls for high-level maturity and ability to effectively interact and operate at management and Board level, to realise KCDA’s vision “to be the leading agent in promotion and regulation of a highly diversified and globally completive coconut industry”.

Job Profile:
- Implementing and monitoring decisions of the Board of Directors and appraising the Board on the progress;
- Spearheading reviewing and implementing KCDA Strategic Plan and ensuring its compliance with Ministry of Agriculture Strategic Plan and Kenya Vision 2030, policy guidelines;
- Providing leadership in change management;
- Planning, directing and coordinating the administrative and office support functions of the organisation;
- Coordinating and preparing business related proposals and resource mobilization;
- Ensuring effective communication between management and the Board as well as between different levels of management;
- Providing leadership and fostering teamwork among all employees;
- Co-ordinating the appointment of supervisors and staff;
- Developing, implementing and reviewing of administration policies, strategies and systems to ensure delivery of quality services to internal and external clients;
- Planning, monitoring and evaluating staff training and development programmes;
- Ensuring continuous achievement of the corporation’s financial and operations strategic objectives;
- Promoting the expansion of area under coconut in the traditional and non traditional coconut growing areas.
- Promoting innovations and entrepreneurship in the coconut sub-sector
Qualifications and Experience (Person Profile):
- A Masters Degree in any of the following fields: Business Administration; Economics; Science and Technology related fields; Agricultural related fields; Law; Engineering or any other field from a recognized University.
- A PhD in any of the above professional qualifications will be an added advantage;
- A member of a professional body in the area of specialization;
- Posses a minimum of 1 0 years experience at a senior management level in a reputable organisation;
- Proficient in ICT with ability to use this in improving business operations;
- Self-driven person of impeccable integrity and honesty;
- Ability to think strategically;
- International business exposure/experience and working in ISO certified environment.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge and experience of Kenyan Labour Laws;
- Knowledge of Performance Based Management;
- Have strong and proven leadership Skills and lead a dynamic team;
- Be a team player, effective supervisory, negotiation, analytical, employee relations, excellent planning and organisation, mentoring, coaching and strong interpersonal and management skills;
- Ability to direct and motivate highly innovative and entrepreneurial team.

Requirement for Appointment
For appointment to this post, the candidate must have:-
- a relevant Degree from a reputable University
- a Higher Diploma in Supplies Management or its acceptable equivalent.
- served in the equivalent grade in a reputable organisation for a minimum period of three (3) years;
- shown merit and ability in the performance of the procurement work.
- attended a Senior Management Course or Strategic Leadership Course from recognized institutions for a period not less than twenty eight (28) days.
