Managing Director Employment Opportunity: Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC)

The Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC) is established as a State Corporation under the State Corporation Act Cap 446 to discharge the following mandates:
  • Promote and market Conference Tourism locally and internationally;
  • Monitor the quality and standard of conference facilities and advice both private and public investors on improvement of such facilities;
  • Plan and implement the expansion and modernization of existing conference facilities and develop new ones; and
  • Carry out any other mandate relevant to its principal mandate.
KICC seeks to recruit a Managing Director to provide direction and leadership towards the achievement of its goals.

The Managing Director will report to the Board of Directors and with the Management team execute plans, strategies and develop appropriate budgets for Conference Tourism.

The Managing Director will work closely with the Government through the parent Ministry and the major players in the industry both Nationally and Internationally to ensure that agreed Conference Tourism plans and strategies are achieved in a cost effective manner.

As the Tourism industry and within it, Conference Tourism is expected to make a far more significant contribution to the Economic and Social development of Kenya thus the successful candidate will be taking on a major national responsibility.

The right candidate therefore should be result oriented, have vision and the ability to articulate and execute short and long term plans, relate effectively with public and private institutions and harmonize competing interests.

Person qualities: - Self-motivated; High Integrity; and Team Player

Minimum Qualifications:
  • An MBA or its Post Graduate equivalent from a recognized University
  • Bachelors degree in a business related field from a recognized University.
  • Should have demonstrated experience in the International Tourism sector and understands the role of Conference and Exhibition Tourism.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Leadership skills in Research, Marketing, Creativity and Innovation
  • Thorough knowledge of and experience in international business, Government Procedures and processes will be an added advantage
  • Should have at least 10 years working experience at Senior Management level in Both public and/or private sectors.
  • Should be in the age bracket 30 years to 50 years.
  • Must be a self motivated, straight thinker and a team player with skills to manage and motivate staff to achieve the set Corporate goals.
The successful candidate will be appointed to a 3-year contract, renewable based on satisfactory performance.

An attractive salary package will be offered on a Negotiable basis.
