Reporting to the Senior Wood Scientist, the Wood Scientist, will be responsible for:
- Formulating, updating and maintaining technical specifications for poles for use in the electricity distribution function.
- Carry out quality verification of poles being delivered to the Company to ensure conformity to standards.
- Coordinate internal testing of poles and ensure conformity to Company technical standards and national standards.
- Formulate, maintain and update procedures to be consistent with current trends in timber preservation.
- Supervise pole treatment facilities to ensure appropriate chemical treatment of wood poles in compliance with the set standards and specifications.
- Carry out inspection of raw seasoned poles before delivery to treatment facilities and coordinate their treatment in conformity with set standards.
- Formulate policy framework on ownership through concession of forest plantations and commercial tree growing for provision of power distribution poles.
- Undertaking other tasks that may be assigned.
Appointment Specifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Wood Science & Technology or other comparable qualifications from a recognised institution.
- At least two (2) years work experience in wood preservation industry.
- Basic knowledge on Quality Management System will be an added advantage

Reporting to the Departmental Head, the Risk Officer will be part of risk management team and will support in execution of the following tasks:
- Implementation of the Corporate Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Policy and Strategy.
- Review of the Corporate ERM Policy and Strategy for relevance to changes in the business operating environment
- Establishment of a Corporate Emergency Response Plan to ensure effective and co-ordinated response mechanisms to emergencies and or disasters.
- Development and management of a comprehensive, balanced risk portfolio.
- Update of identified threats and opportunities affecting the business.
- Identification of new threats and opportunities that may impact on the business.
- Preparation of risk mitigation plans and mechanisms.
- Conducting risk assessment, risk quantification and risk sensitivity analyses.
- Provision of secretariat and other support for the various established Corporate ERM Steering Committees.
- Preparation of status reports as may be required.
- Performing any other duties as may be assigned.

- Bachelor's' degree in Business Management or Accounting/Mathematics or other comparable qualifications from a recognized Institution. Possession of a relevant post graduate degree will be an added advantage.
- At least five (5) years experience in a similar position with wide exposure to risk management and risk compliance issues gained within the energy sector or handling energy risks.
- Must have undergone a training programme in Risk Evaluation and Management.
- Member of a recognized professional body of risk management or related bodies e.g. Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS) or Institute of Risk Management (IRM) or Association of Insurance and Risk Managers (AIRM)
- Demonstrate high level of integrity, trust and ability to handle confidential information with discretion and tact.
- Proven communication and inter-personal skills.
- Demonstrate excellent conceptual, analytical and reporting skills.
- Possession of relevant IT User skills and qualifications will be an added advantage.

- Compiling survey information/data
- Conducting field/route survey operations.
- Preparing survey drawings in line with standards and policies of the company.
- Updating facility Database and survey maps.
- Maintaining update data and maps to meet required standards.
- Supervising pegging of surveyed route before line construction.
- Supervising contracted surveyors
- Performing any other duties as may be assigned.
