Duties and Responsibilities

Duties at this level will involve:
  • participating in teaching and evaluating relevant subjects in their discipline areas;
  • assessing students in clinical areas;
  • organizing extra-curricula activities in the college/training Center;
  • guiding and counseling students in matters related to their academic and social welfare;
  • designing and developing instruments to assess health training needs;
  • developing guidelines for evaluation of health teaching materials for different health fields;
  • evaluating training programmes to determine their effectiveness and relevance with present and future health needs in the area of specialization;
  • developing guidelines for reviewing competence based curriculum in the health field;
  • planning and organizing Continuing Education Programmes for health workers in relevant areas;
  • undertaking consultancy in the area of specialization;
  • coordinating research in the area of specialization;
  • formulating and implementing new training strategies;
  • supervising post basic students on research projects;
  • identifying staff development needs; providing research-related consultancy services to the Ministry of Health and other health institutions; and
  • developing guidelines for curriculum development and review.
Requirements for Appointment

For direct appointment to this grade, an officer must have Bachelors Degree in any of the following fields: - Clinical Sciences, Diagnostic Sciences, Rehabilitative Sciences, Medical Research and Information Technology, Public Health or any other relevant field.

Senior Lecturer

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties at this level will involve: -

Requirements for Appointment

For direct appointment to this grade a candidate must have a Professional Degree in any of the following fields:- Dentistry, Pharmacy, Medicine, or any other relevant qualifications from a recognized institution.

Principal Human Resource Management Officer

Duties and Responsibilities

An officer at this level will be responsible for the recruitment, placement, development and promotions of staff.

Specific duties will include, coordinating of budget development for the personnel emoluments; development and transfer of staff; staff discipline; recruitment, placement and promotion of staff; coordinating and controlling staff establishment.

The officer will also be involved in updating personnel policies and procedures in conjunction with the Head of the Division.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: -
  • served as a Chief Human Resources Management Officer or in a comparable and relevant position for a mjnimum period of three (3) year
  • a Bachelors Degree in any social science from a recognized Institution or Part III of the Certified Public Secretaries Examination (CPS (K) or its recognized equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution; and
  • shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
Chief Human Resource Management Officer

Duties and Responsibilities

An officer at this level will be involved in various human resource management activities, which will include recruitment, appointment, promotion, remuneration, training, development and welfare of staff for the college.

In addition, the officer will be responsible for development, interpretation and up dating of personnel policies and procedures in conjunction with the Heads of Departments.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: -
  • served as a Senior Human Resource Management Officer or in a comparable and relevant position for a minimum period of three (3) years; and
  • a Bachelors Degree in any social science from a recognized university or Part III of the Certified Public Secretaries Examination or its recognized equivalent qualification from a recognized institution,

Administrative Officer II

Duties and Responsibilities

This will be the entry and training grade for graduates into this cadre.

An officer at this level will carry out simple general administration duties but may be in-charge of an administrative unit though may work under supervision of a more senior officer.

Requirements for Appointment

For direct appointment to this grade an officer must have a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or its equivalent from a recognized institution or Part III of the Certified Public Secretaries Examination or its equivalent.

Internal Auditor I

Duties and Responsibilities

An officer at this level will be expected to undertake various audit assignments including: - preparation of audit plans, programmes and budgets; reviewing internal control systems on financial and other operations of the College; and ensuring economic, efficient and effective use of the financial and operating systems including computer systems; assets; preparing Audit reports and maintaining professional audit standards.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: -
  • served in the grade of internal Auditor II or in a comparable relevant position for a minimum period of three (3) years; and
  • shown a high degree of professional competence and capability in conducting and supervising both financial and management audits.
Internal Auditor II

Duties and Responsibilities

This will be the entry and training grade for this cadre.

An officer at this level will work under the direction of the officer in charge of the Audit unit and will be required to undertake the following duties and responsibilities: - executing audit programmes; collecting audit evidence; reviewing internal control systems in operation; verifying the existence and safety of the College assets; preparing draft reports; reviewing budgetary controls on the issuance of authority to incur expenditure and commitments; and validating of records and reports.

Requirements for Appointment

For direct appointment to this grade, a candidate must have a Bachelor of or Part III of the Certified Public Accountants examination or its recognized institute equivalent from a recognized institution.

Accountant II

Duties and Responsibilities

An officer at this level will deal with the day-to-day accounting matters under close supervision of a more senior officer. Specific duties will include, preparation of financial statements for various purposes and project financial appraisal and management.

For direct appointment to this grade an officer must have a Bachelors Degree in Commerce (Account option) from a recognized university or Part III of the Certified Public Accountants Examination or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.

Science Laboratory Technologist III

Tenable at KMTC Mombasa & Machakos

Duties and Responsibilities

This is the entry grade into the Science Laboratory Technologist cadre. Work at this level is of limited scope and complexity and is performed under the guidance of senior officers.

The Laboratory Technologist III is expected to be conversant with the basic principles of laboratory work and should assist senior officers in accomplishing specific assignments. At this level, duties will include simple analytical work and media maintenance of cultures of insects, bacteria, fungi or other laboratory animals.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade candidates must:-
  • be in possession of at least the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education mean grade C with at least C in the relevant science subjects or an approved equivalent qualification; and
  • have successfully completed a prescribed three (3) years institutional/departmental course and have been awarded the Ordinary Diploma in Applied Sciences by the Kenya National Examinations Council or be in possession of other recognized equivalent qualification.
Senior Supply Chain Management Officer

Duties and Responsibilities

An officer at this level will be responsible for the initiation of procurement policies for the college; reviewing, updating, interpretation and implementing existing supplies regulations, procedures and systems; preparing and ensuring implementation of the supplies manual and being in-charge of the general welfare of staff in the Supplies Unit including their training and advancement.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:-
  • A Bachelors Degree in Procurement related field such as Commerce, Business Administration, Procurement or Economics.
  • Served as a Supply Chain Officer I for a minimum period of three (3) years;
  • A Diploma (final stage) in supply chain management from CIPS or its equivalent from a recognized from a recognized institution High ethical standards and integrity; and
  • Shown a high administrative capability in the management procurement services
