TI-Kenya is seeking the services of an experienced editor to review the Kenya Water Sector Governance Study 2009.
This study analyzes the governance issues surrounding the water sector, paying special attention to the legal, policy and institutional structures that govern how water resources are managed, and how water services are delivered.
The survey was carried out by Transparency International – Kenya in partnership with Maji Na Ufanisi. The draft document is 50 pages, single spacing, font size 12 on A4 size paper.

Specific Tasks:
- Ascertain that the report adheres to TI-Kenya’s editorial standards.
- Ensure logical arrangement, readability, clarity of expression, internal consistency and correct spelling, syntax, punctuation and grammar.
- Check the accuracy of facts, figures, references, statistics, quotations and citations, and ensure that the appropriate copyright rules have been observed.
- Ensure that phraseology and terminology are correct and that the style is appropriate to the target readership.
- Check the layout and presentation of the publication – pagination, clarity of text, illustrations, graphs and tables.
Expected Qualifications
- An advanced university degree in communications, journalism or a relevant field of work, or equivalent level of professional experience. Candidates with a first level degree and additional years of relevant experience may be considered.
- At least five years of professional experience in public information, journalism, publishing and editorial services or a related area.
- Experience in writing and editing copy under tight deadlines. Experience in writing and editing reports or corporate publications would be an asset.
- Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
TI-Kenya will remunerate the editor as per the organisation’s internal procurement procedures and the budget. The contract fees will be paid in full upon successful completion of the task.
Timeline
The task should be completed within (5) five working days upon contractual commitment.
Complaints Process
This call for Expression of Interest does not constitute a solicitation and TI-Kenya reserves the right to change or cancel the requirement at any time during the EOI process.
TI-Kenya also reserves the right to require compliance with additional conditions as and when issuing the final solicitation documents. Submitting a reply to a call for EOI does not automatically guarantee receipt of the solicitation documents when issued. Invitations to bid or requests for proposals will be issued in accordance with TI-Kenya rules and procedures.
Any grievances and or complaints arising from the evaluation process and final tender award can be addressed, in writing, to the Executive Director and the TI-Kenya Tender Complaints Committee
