Vi Agroforestry is an international non-political, non- religious and non-profit organization registered in Sweden. In Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda it is registered as a non-governmental organization.
It is funded by individual donors and the Swedish government through Sida.
Vi Agroforestry together with Swedish Cooperative Centre is implementing the Lake Victoria Regional Environmental and Sustainable Agricultural Productivity Programme (RESAPP) since 2009.
RESAPP is a rural development programme with the overriding aim of improving the living conditions of rural small-scale farmers through capacity de/elopment in natural resource management for increased agricultural production.
As Project Manager you will be employed by the Vi Agroforestry and be responsible for the overall implementation of activities in the project area in accordance with Vi Agroforestry's policy, approved plan, operations and budget.
You should lead by example and act as a mentor to all employees. The position is very demanding which calls for a highly experienced person.
You will work under the direct supervision of the Programme Director with close collaboration with other Project Managers in East Africa and the Deputy Project Manager.
Main tasks:
- Oversee that the project is in line with the overall programme and organisation's strategic and operational plans.
- Oversee the planning, support and supervise management team, and follow up on day to day activities.
- Responsible for ensuring that stated cost constraints are adhered to and that financial accounting is conducted in an irreproachable manner.
- Placing great importance on maintaining good contacts and relationships with farming families, in order to inform them about and encourage them to participate in programme activities.
- Maintain and develop effective monitoring of the quality and intensity of the field work and reporting on the activities in accordance with programme and Stockholm office requirements.
- Establishing, maintaining and developing good relationships with all stakeholders.
- Coordinating all unit heads and ensuring that set targets are met.
- Ensuring project activities are within regulations and policies of the country and region.
- BSc or MSc in Agroforestry, Natural resource management, Project management or other relevant education.
- Good leadership and analytical skills.
- Self-driven person, highly flexible with problem solving skills.
- Several years of experience working as Project Manager or similar position.
- Experience in economical management, financial and progress reporting.
- Excellent skills in English and Kiswahili.
