Financial Manager

A leading up-market eco-tourism company in East Africa seeks an experienced and qualified Financial Manager with experience in the tourism industry.

The general purpose of this position is the responsibility for all financial and fiscal management aspects of group operations.

You will be reporting into the Managing Director and will be a member of the Executive Management Team

Responsibilities
  • Accurate and timely management of financial accounts to the Board, shareholders and third parties (monthly, quarterly, annually)
  • Developing and maintaining all financial/administrative/risk policies, procedures
  • Developing and maintaining administrative IT systems
  • Statutory returns, compliance with tax and regulations
  • Insurance of the business, risk management
  • Internal and external audits, implementation of audit recommendations
  • Overseeing all transaction and payment processes, review and approval of all journals and general ledgers
  • Continuous monitoring of key expenses
  • Preparation of budgets and forecasts
  • Preparation of cash flow forecasts
  • Various ad-hoc functions
  • Daily management of the admin department, including recruitment, training, development and appraisal of all admin staff
  • Maintaining relationships with auditors and banks

  • Highly organized and structured; professional work standards.
  • Work requires strong professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Minimum 7 year experience in business management and financial management in multi-national, African operating environment
  • Certified accountant with strong working knowledge of IFRS
  • Must have experience with computerized financial/administrative information systems and/or ERP systems and the implementation thereof.
  • Proven experience in the (people) management of 10+ admin staff.
  • Prepared to travel and to relocate to/within East Africa
