Five Star Hotel in Nairobi Jobs: Assistant Sales & Marketing Manager and Plumber

A leading Five Star Hotel in the heart of the city seeks to employ suitable Kenyan Citizens to fill the positions below:

1. Assistant Sales & Marketing Manager

Reporting to the Sales & Marketing Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for;

• Assisting the Sales & Marketing Manager with overall Sales & Marketing Administration for the Hotel & and its concerns.
• Assisting in formulation and setting up of Company Sales and Marketing policies.
• Analysis of all available business information and statistics to recognize and act upon market trends with a view to maximisation of yield.
• Assisting in Budgeting and Business planning responsibilities for the Sales department.
• To take ownership of key accounts and ensure all revenue and business opportunities with them are maximized.
• To set and negotiate rates in liaison with the Sales & Marketing Manager.
• Maintaining and developing knowledge of our competitors, their product, rates and promotions to ensure we uphold our competitive advantage in the market place.
• Actively promoting the hotel through networking and PR opportunities – attend all key and relevant social events and familiarisation trips (including, when necessary, in the evenings and weekends).

The position is challenging and calls for a dynamic, confident, aggressive and forward thinking person with the following attributes;

• Aged 30 – 40 years
• A University Degree in the relevant field and a Sales & Marketing qualification preferred.
• Have not less than five (5) years experience, 3 of which must be in a similar position in a busy Sales & Marketing department in a large organization. Experience in the hospitality sector will be an added and advantage.
• Good written and oral communication skills and computer literate.
• Ability to set the highest possible personal standards of performance within the sales department.
• Knowledge in modern Sales, Marketing & Public relations operations.
• Networking ability and to be able to quickly grasp complex issues and come up with action plans geared towards achieving high productivity.
• Very conversant with the UN market operations and International agencies, Embassies and other foreign missions.
• Candidates with International exposure will have an added advantage.

2. Plumber

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for;

• Repair and maintenance of plumbing systems.
• Performing hands-on repair of, and preventative maintenance on assigned parts of the water treatment equipment, water distribution systems and plumbing components.
• Maintaining appropriate inventory records of all assigned plumbing tools.
• Performing unscheduled emergency repair or emergency maintenance work on the plumbing systems as needed.
• Assisting other technicians in performing other unscheduled emergency repair work as needed.

The position is challenging and calls for a dynamic, confident, aggressive and forward thinking person with the following attributes;

• Aged 25 – 35 years.
• Holder of a diploma in the relevant fields from reputable institutions the status of Kenya polytechnic or the National Youth Service or university.
• Be in possession of at least Government Trade Test Grade One.
• Have a minimum of 3 years relevant working practical experience in the relevant field.
• Physically fit with ability to multi-task and work under pressure.
• Ability to set the highest personal standards of work performance.
• Exposure in the hotel industry will be an added advantage.
