Western Water Services Company (WWSC) is a cluster Water Service Provider (WSP) Company incorporated in 2006 with technical assistance from the Ministry of Water and Irrigation (MWI/GTZ) Water Sector Reform Programme (WSRP).
The company is appointed by Lake Victoria North Water Services Board (LVNWSB) as a Water Service Provider (WSP) with a mandate of delivering water and sanitation services within the Municipal Council of Kakamega including:- Shitoli, Mumias, Busia, Nambale and Butere Town Councils.
WWSC wishes to recruit highly competent, proactive and self driven people to fill the following senior positions and be part of a dynamic management team in the company.
1. Managing Director
Key Responsibilities:

1. Managing Director
Key Responsibilities:
- Is in charge of all the company planning, implementation , monitoring and evaluation to ensure that it provides safe water and sewerage services that satisfy its customer’s and the shareholders’ needs for growth and return on investment
- Developing and ensuring that the implementation of the company’s approved water and sewerage business strategies, policies, procedures, practices and operating plans that reflect the longer-term corporate goals and priorities as established by Board of Directors
- Changing the culture within the company to one more consistent with private sector principles and practices
- Developing and maintaining good public relations with the community, the councils and the customers
- Advising the Board of Directors concerning objectives and policies as they relate to the technical, financial and legal affairs of the company, and to future activities in the area of water supply and sewerage
- Formulating and periodically updating the Corporate Plan including projections of any necessary expansion or development of facilities, extensions of business operations and to ensure that the company operates in an effective and efficient manner
- Conducting the affairs of the company such that the performance meets expectations and requirements of the Board of Directors
- Reviewing, with senior management, budget proposals and Human Resource Plans, for the approval by the Board of Directors
- Making regular reports to the Board of Directors on actual performance of the company, compared with approved targets and budgets, and formulate recommendations for discrepancies to be corrected
- Providing and sourcing for the required inputs such as finances, plant and equipment to enable the Company to provide and distribute a constant supply of portable water for domestic, commercial and industrial use and also provide adequate sewerage services
- Developing and implementing performance improvements strategies in major areas of the company’s operations
Qualifications and Key Competencies
- Level of Education: Bachelor and Masters Degree in Engineering (Civil, Water, Environmental) or Management or Equivalent.
- Professional/Additional Qualifications:
- Membership in professional association (s)
- Management and Supervision Skills
- Relevant Computer Software Skills
- Experience: At least ten (10) years in a Senior Management Position, five (5) of which must have been in the Water Sector
- Age – Between 36 -50 years
2. Financial Accountant

- Responsible for proper and correct bookings in the accounting system
- Ensure that all the books of the accounts are kept in line with the accounting principles and financial regulations of the company
- Preparing the monthly payroll
- Ensure that all the accounting vouchers are correctly filled and have sufficient supportive documents
- Ensure that the cash count is done daily and reconciliation protocol filled as per the accounting principles
- Ensure that all statutory deductions and taxes are collected and remitted timely
- Ensure that all staff deductions are remitted with the respective staff numbers (PIN, NHIF, NSSF etc)
- Preparing monthly expenditure reports in liaison with other accountants
- Ensure that all expenditures are in line with the approved budgets and can be booked in the approved company cost codes.
- Ensure that all the cheques to be written have sufficient supportive documents and vouchers which must be duly approved by the management director of the company.
- Managing finance and accounting functions as appropriate
- Preparing the annual budgets and financial plans based on the business plan
- Reviewing and strengthening the internal control environment
- Implementing and enhancing the management information systems as required
- Managing computerization process and implementing an executive IT strategy and integrated accounting system as required
- Preparing management accounts, variance reports and financial reports for management and board as required
- Handling the tax affairs
Qualifications and Key Competencies
- Level of Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in commerce, finance, accounting or equivalent and qualified Certified Public Accountant Kenya CPA (K) with 5 years experience.

- Taxation Skills
- Report Writing Skills
- Experience: Five (5) Years in a management position in a dynamic organization
- Age- Between 30 – 45 years
3. Planning and GIS Manager
Key Responsibilities

- Administration and Maintenance of the entire Geographical Information System (GIS)
- Liaise with ICT Section to develop and establish the GIS System
- Develop and forward the data and maps to user departments and sections
- Administration and management of licenses
- Liaise with all departments/sections on GIS planning and related functions
- Development, implementation and supervision of GIS processes and work flows
- Training all the staff of the section and other departments/sections as appropriate
- Development of reports and production of data according to the needs of the company
- Ensure security and integrity of all GIS data including ensuring regular data back-ups and recovery of lost data
Qualifications and Key Competencies
- Level of Education:
- Bachelors degree in engineering (Civil, water, or equivalent) and 5 years experience
- Professional/Additional Qualifications:
- Certificate or Diploma in GIS
- Supervision Skills
- Relevant Computer Software Skills
- Communication and Facilitation Skills
- Sound knowledge of GIS, MIs and Planning Processes
- Familiar with applications of Arc GIS software packages to issues and problems arising from water works
- Report Writing Skills
- Experience: Five (5) Years in a management position, Experience in the Water Sector will be an added advantage.
- Age: Between 30 – 45 years
4. Maintenance Manager
Key Responsibilities

- Provide timely, economic and reliable maintenance and installation services
- Identify and provide necessary tools and equipments
- Prepare and maintain maintenance schedules reports
- Compile the planned maintenance programme of equipment and machineries
- Perform daily maintenance of all types of machinery and equipment (electrical and mechanical in accordance with the maintenance manuals
- Carry out the repairing and replacement of machines and equipment (electrical and mechanical in accordance with the guidelines
- Record all actions in the “work card” or “job card” as required
- Control the oil levels of transformer and work of electro-engines.
- Maintain records of spares used
- Promote safety practices at the work place
- Supervise and train the staff in the section
Qualifications and Key Competencies
- Level of Education:
- Bachelors degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, water, Civil or equivalent) and 5 years experience
- Professional/Additional Qualifications:
- Planning Skills
- Supervision Skills
- Relevant Computer Software Skills
- Experience in maintenance of water and sewerage schemes or similar production facilities
- Experience: 5 Years in a management position preferably in the Water Sector
- Age: Between 30-45 Years
