Vacancies in Banking in Kenya

I. Product Manager
Ref: PM/1/12/2009

The Product Manager will report to the General Manager - Marketing and Product Development and will be responsible for:
  • Generating, evaluating and crystallising new banking product ideas
  • Developing and launching of new technology driven retail and corporate banking products
  • Upgrading of existing banking products
  • Lead managing new product implementation projects
  • Performance managing existing products
Qualifications and competencies:
  • Graduate, MBA preferred
  • At least 5 years experience in banking of which at least 2 years experience in banking product development
  • Good Knowledge of banking regulations and processes
  • Good knowledge of banking ICT systems
II. Relationship Officers
Ref: RO/2/12/2009 (various openings)

The Relationship Officer will report to the Branch Manager and will be responsible for:
  • Growing and exploiting business opportunities
  • Managing existing and new relationships effectively
  • Identifying the sale and effectively closing it
  • Ensuring quick turn around time on relationship service delivery
  • Enhancing and facilitating customer service
  • Managing the credit portfolio effectively
  • Participating in product development and marketing initiatives
Qualifications and competencies:
  • A graduate from a recognized university
  • At least 2 years practical experience as a relationship person in marketing and managing existing banking portfolio.
  • Excellent communications, analytical and reporting skills
  • Marketing, business development and relationship management skills
  • Relationship management skills
  • Computer literacy
  • Team player
NB: Person not having experience in handling banking credit relationships need not apply

III. Asst. Manager - Credit
Ref: AM/3/12/2009

The Asst. Manager - Credit will report to the Manager - Credit and will be responsible for;
  • Reviewing, analysing and vetting credit -applications from branches.
  • Reviewing letters of offer for sanctioned facilities
  • Participating in reviewing of the Bank’s credit policy and guidelines
  • Identifying early warning signals through review of accounts
  • Supervising the team
Qualifications and competencies:
  • At least 7 years experience in banking out of which a minimum of 5 years practical experience in a similar position
  • Graduate from a recognized university
  • AKIB Qualification
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Banking Act and CBK Prudential Guidelines on Lending
  • Strong analytical skills, keen on details and report writing skills.
  • Able to work under pressure and deliver within the agreed timelines
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead teams
  • Knowledge and hands on experience in handling of Finacle Core Banking Software is an added advantage.
IV. Credit Officers
Ref: CO/4/12/2009 (3 positions)

The Credit Officer will report to the Asst. Manager – Credit and will be responsible for:
  • Basic security documentation
  • Maintaining records relating to credit applications
  • Preparing various reports relating to credit
  • Post sanctions credit administration follow-ups e.g. renewal of insurance, valuation reports, compliance to covenants etc.
  • Monitoring of loan portfolio through preparation of reports and identification of delinquent accounts
Qualifications and competencies:
  • A minimum of 3 years practical experience in loans and advances
  • Graduate from a recognized university
  • AKIB Qualification
  • Strong accounting background and proficiency in use of Microsoft Excel will be an added advantage
  • Demonstrate good report writing skills
  • Knowledge and hands on experience in handling of Finacle Core Banking Software is an added advantage.
V. Human Resources Officer
Ref: HR0/5/12/2009

The Human Resources Officer will report to the Assistant Manager - Human Resources and will be responsible for:
  • Assisting in the recruitment and placement of staff
  • Providing support to the line managers in the mentoring and coaching process
  • Preparing letters of appointment and effectively managing the Bank’s induction program
  • Updating job descriptions and periodically carrying out job profiling
  • Conducting exit interviews and analysing feedback for management use
  • Conducting Training Needs Assessment and in liaison with Assistant Manager, Human Resources, preparing the Bank’s training plans.
  • Maintaining and continuously updating the recruitment data base
  • Assisting in the management of various HR initiatives
Qualifications and competencies
  • Graduate from a recognized university. Possession of a Higher National Diploma in Human Resources, will be preferred.
  • At least a minimum of 3 years practical experience in HR.
  • Computer literacy.
