Project Summary:
MSI was recently awarded a three-year contract with USAID/Sudan named SUPPORT (Services Under Program and Project Offices for Results Tracking), and tasked with responsibility for executing many functions normally associated with the Mission's Program and Communications offices. As a part of the SUPPORT program, MSI is currently establishing an office and residential compound in Juba, Sudan, conducting evaluations and special studies, hosting conferences, hiring technical and support staff and facilitating VIP visits. Position Summary:
The Travel and Operations Specialist will be responsible for planning travel, logistics and conferences for both USAID and MSI teams in Sudan, Kenya and elsewhere in the region. This is a critical and high-visibility position, and the Specialist must be extremely organized, adaptable and professional.
Responsibilities:
- Plan travel & logistics for MSI teams in Sudan and the region, including lodging, ground transport and flights.
- For both USAID and MSI teams on trips outside of Juba and Khartoum:
- Arrange air flights
- Arrange lodging and food locally
- Arrange land transport locally
- Arrange logistics for USAID conferences in Sudan, Kenya and elsewhere in the region
- Develop and nurture relationships with air service providers, hotel operators and Implementing Partners to support ongoing travel logistics.
- Take lead in arranging VIP visits.
- Assist in housing logistics and maintenance for MSI staff, as needed.
- Extensive field travel required.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience arranging travel and logistics in Sudan or Sub-Saharan Africa required;
- High degree of professionalism, adaptability and organization;
- Strong sense of self-direction and the ability to carry out tasks with little oversight;
- English fluency required and Arabic proficiency strongly preferred.
- Minimum of a BA +8 years of experience; MA +6, JD+4, PhD +3 required
