Senior Technical Advisor Vacancy Announcement - Burundi - Management Sciences for Health (MSH)

Management Sciences for Health (MSH) is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to closing the gap between what is known about public health problems and what is done to solve them.

Strengthening Pharmaceutical Systems (SPS).is a USAID funded program whose mandate is to build capacity within the country to effectively manage pharmaceutical systems.

MSH is opening an office in Bujumbura to implement the SPS program.

The Senior Technical Advisor is responsible for coordinating and managing all activities for the Strengthening Pharmaceutical Systems (SPS) Program in Burundi.

He or she is the primary liaison between SPS and the USAID Health Team, the Ministry of Health, the Malaria Control Program, other stakeholders and partners involved with malaria and commodity management activities.

The Senior Technical Advisor manages the SPS Burundi office, supervises staff, and works closely with SPS Arlington to ensure that SPS plans and activities effectively address priority pharmaceutical and commodity management needs, especially in the context of malaria.

Qualifications

* Degree in a health related field including medicine, pharmacy, public health, health management or other related discipline. A Master's degree in public health or a related discipline is preferred.
* Demonstrated managerial and organizational skills in a developmental setting
* Experience working with malaria programs.
* Familiarity with public health systems in francophone Africa, with a good understanding of key pharmaceutical management issues.
* Experience working with donors, especially USAID-funded programs.
* Demonstrated experience coordinating with programs supported by international agencies such as WHO, World Bank, the Global Fund and bilateral agencies such as USAID.
* Excellent interpersonal skills
* Proficiency in French and English, including reading, writing, and speaking skills, with ability to write lucid technical reports and documents in both French and English.
* Ability and availability to travel within Burundi and internationally as needed.
