Mildmay International Job Opportunities in Kenya

Mildmay International is a Christian NGO specializing in training for HIV/AIDS Prevention, Care and Treatment and service development.

The aim of the programme is to strengthen the capacity of Ministry of Health, Community Based Organizations and Medical Training Colleges to increase access to HIV/AIDS care across the continuum.

Mildmay Kenya is currently recruiting for five positions as detailed below. The post holders will be required to show a commitment to Mildmay’s ethos, vision and aims and the objectives of the project.

Deputy Country Director - Finance & Administration
1 post based in Kisumu

Must be University graduate with a degree in Finance and/or Accounting and CPA (K) or equivalent with ability to formulate and analyze financial reports to donors and provide high quality financial information and sound systems of financial controls.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • At least 1 year experience working at senior management level of a public health organization with proven leadership skills
  • At least 3 to 5 years international development grant management experience, preferably with an NGO;
  • At least 2 years experience with an international audit firm;
  • Experience in donor / international development partners procurement and reporting regulations especially US Government and EU;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Good negotiation skills and diplomacy and sensitivity in dealing with partners
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision, in a team, often under pressure
Finance Manager
1 post based in Kisumu

Must be University graduate with a degree in Finance and/or Accounting and CPA (K) or equivalent with ability to provide high quality financial information and sound systems of financial controls and experienced in handling accounting packages and Excel.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • At least 3 to 5 years international development grant management experience, preferably with an NGO;
  • At least 2 years experience with an international audit firm;
  • Experience in donor / international development partners regulations and reporting;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Good negotiation skills and diplomacy and sensitivity in dealing with partners;
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision, in a team, often under pressure.
Human Resources & Administration Officer
1 Post based in Kisumu, Kenya

The successful candidate will be responsible for the human resources management for the organisation, which shall be conducted in a timely, transparent, effective and efficient manner; and oversee administration matters.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Higher diploma or advanced training in Human Resource Management or closely related field and strong writing and communication skills.
  • Proven leadership, management, interpersonal, decision making and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in computer usage especially Microsoft office packages.
The successful candidate will need:
  • Experience in Human Resource Management and familiar with the relevant labour legislation and best practice;
  • To handle sensitive issues of personnel, strictly adhering to rules and regulations as stipulated by the organization and the law of the land while keeping the highest professional standards and integrity;
  • Good negotiation skills and diplomacy;
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision demonstrating high degree of integrity, in a team, often under pressure.
Procurement/Logistics Officer
1 Post based in Kisumu, Kenya

The successful candidate will be responsible for the procurement of goods and services for the organisation, which shall be conducted in a timely, transparent, effective and efficient manner; and oversee logistical matters as detailed below.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Higher diploma or advanced training equivalent in purchasing/supplies, commerce, or closely related field and strong writing and communication skills.
  • Proven leadership, management, interpersonal, decision making and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in computer usage especially Microsoft office packages.
The successful candidate will need:
  • Experience in NGO procurement and familiar with donor/ international development partners procurement regulations especially US Government and EU;
  • To handle sensitive issues of procurement, strictly adhering to rules and regulations as stipulated by the organization and the donor while keeping the highest professional standards and integrity;
  • Good negotiation skills and diplomacy;
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision demonstrating high degree of integrity, in a team, often under pressure.
Finance Assistant
1 Post based in Kisumu, Kenya

The Finance Assistant will be a key member in the finance department responsible for the book-keeping for various projects.

Under supervision of the Finance Manager, (s)he shall assist in the financial management of the Mildmay’s programmes. This will include book keeping and organising the pay roll, petty cash, ordering and invoicing.

Qualifications and Experience:

The successful candidate will need:
  • Strong financial and accounting background.
  • Recent graduate B-Com Accounting Option and CPA or pursuing the same.
  • NGO/Donor accounting Experience
  • Accounting system experience
  • Good Microsoft Excel and Word abilities
  • Be interested in health and development work and interest in HIV/AIDS
  • To be familiar with various project-funding systems and reporting.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision demonstrating high degree of diligence and integrity in a team, often under pressure.
Employees of the Ministry of Health are not eligible for any of the positions above.
