Internal Audit Officer Vacant Position: Nairobi Stock Exchange (NSE)

The Nairobi Stock Exchange (NSE) plays a key role in the economy by raising capital for businesses, mobilizing savings for investment, redistributing wealth, improving corporate governance and creating investment opportunities for small investors.

In line with its mission of providing a world class trading facility for wealth creation, the Exchange is seeking to recruit a qualified, dynamic, self- motivated and results- oriented individual to fill the position of:

Internal Audit Officer

Reporting to the Internal Auditor, the Key Responsibilities of the selected candidate will include:

• Conducting regular audits to ensure effectiveness and efficiency of operations, compliance with policies, procedures and best practice and that NSE’s risk management procedures are in place and working;
• Preparing draft reports for review by the Internal Auditor;
• Conducting a review of the company’s Information Systems Control procedures for their adequacy, effectiveness and reliability; ensuring that the Exchange’s information and assets are properly managed and safeguarded against loss;
• Conducting follow up of Internal and external auditors’ recommendations to ensure they are promptly implemented;
• Conducting special reviews and investigations as and when requested by the Internal Auditor; and
• Performing any other audit related tasks as directed by the Internal Auditor.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a business- related field.
• Be a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
• Be a fully qualified accountant CPA (K), ACCA, CIMA, CA or equivalent qualification.
• At least 3 years internal audit experience preferably in the financial services sector.

Key Competencies:

• Good knowledge and understanding of internal audit including a broad knowledge of international trends in auditing.
• Have a working knowledge of financial information systems.
• Good written and verbal communication.
• Sound analytical skills.
• Ability to keep abreast of evolving trends in auditing through continuing professional development.
• Demonstrate proficiency in IT particularly computer assisted audit techniques.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of privileged information and to ensure absolute discretion and sensitivity to confidential matters
