A fast growing commercial microfinance company with operations in five East African countries is seeking to recruit staff of high calibre to fill the positions below:
1. Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

The CFO is responsible for the execution of the following tasks:
- Oversees all company accounting practices, including accounting departments in all operations, preparing budgets & monitoring performance against budgets, financial reports, tax, secretarial and audit functions.
- Head of financial control ensuring all costs incurred are within budget and that procurement policy & procedures on all expenditures have been followed.
- Directs financial strategy, planning and forecasts and supervises raising of funds for business and management of relations with funders
- Head of risk management, working with operational heads to identify all risks faced by the business, devising & implementing strategies to mitigate the risks
Qualifications and Experience
- A minimum of 8 years experience in a senior finance & accounting role, ideally with a microfinance or financial institution and with the following qualifications:
- CPA designation preferred, Masters degree in Accounting, Finance or Business and up to date knowledge of current financial and accounting computer applications with good risk management & internal audit skills.
2. Head of Internal Audit
Reporting directly to the Audit Committee and Group CEO, the Head of Internal Audit will be based at the Nairobi Head Office but will be required to travel extensively in East Africa.
The Head of Internal Audit will be responsible for:

The Head of Internal Audit will be responsible for:
- The development of the Group Internal Audit function, including the recruitment, training & supervision of the necessary staff.
- Developing annual audit work plans to ensure in consultation with the Audit Committee
- Reviewing the effectiveness of internal control systems in place.
- Determining of key institutional risks and making recommendations to the Audit Committee and Operational staff on how they should be managed.
- Reviewing the adequacy of institution monitoring systems
Qualifications and Experience
A minimum of 5, years experience in a senior internal audit role, ideally with a microfinance or financial institution and with the following qualifications: CPA and Certified Internal Auditors designations preferred and a degree in Accounting, Finance or Business and with a strong knowledge of current financial and accounting computer applications.
3. Head of Business Growth – Group Lending in Rwanda
The position is in the Rwandan subsidiary of the organization.
The position is based in Kigali and is responsible for the execution of the following tasks:
A minimum of 5, years experience in a senior internal audit role, ideally with a microfinance or financial institution and with the following qualifications: CPA and Certified Internal Auditors designations preferred and a degree in Accounting, Finance or Business and with a strong knowledge of current financial and accounting computer applications.
3. Head of Business Growth – Group Lending in Rwanda
The position is in the Rwandan subsidiary of the organization.
The position is based in Kigali and is responsible for the execution of the following tasks:
- Overall success of the group lending product in Rwanda.Group lending portfolio generation, Portfolio at Risk (PAR) management, staff supervision and capacity building and achievement of the Budgets & targets framework as set in the business plan. The position is also bound to ensure and sustain institutional policy on zero tolerance on arrears.
Qualifications and Experience
- The ideal person should hold the following qualifications: A minimum of an undergraduate degree though an MBA or Masters Degree would be preferable.
- A minimum of 5 years experience as a branch, regional or operations manager position in a reputable microfinance institution in Kenya.
- Excellent verbal, analytical, organizational and writing skills.
